For example, I've been running Flex Builder Linux for 5 or so months. The latest seed (Alpha 4) was time bombed at 470+ days. In other words, beta testing has given me free use of a $250 app for ~2 years and the app itself, while being labeled alpha, has had absolutely no bugs that I was able to find.
I've transitioned from FlashDevelop on windows to FlexBuilder on linux without paying a cent because adobe has taken the route of community beta testing.
