- dualscreenman, on 06/20/2008, -3/+13It's a web browser, not a freakin' operating system. Firefox should do what Firefox does best.
- dualscreenman, on 06/21/2008, -2/+8Firefox isn't really good at taking up memory anymore. :(
- atdigg, on 06/21/2008, -2/+6Opera is more customizable than Firefox, you can set a key shortcut or mouse gesture for anything... you can disable any GUI element, for example I browse without the File / Edit /View / etc menu... no need for it.
- gsiliceo, on 06/20/2008, -1/+4The ammount of packages it comes is impressive, all those distros and versions, what a nice example of linux support.
- ccheath, on 06/20/2008, -3/+6how is an application clumsy?
just curious.
i think it's a pretty good alternative to firefox
ps: anyone else wonder how free downloads can give eachother run's for money? - atdigg, on 06/21/2008, -0/+2Only spreadsheets don't work... annoying...
- n0odles, on 06/21/2008, -3/+5Opera is not open source, DO NOT WANT!
- bluelectric, on 06/20/2008, -5/+6Let's see when FF will include a Bittorrent client, a mail client (oh wait, Netscape had this, too, bot Opera always has had a smaller footprint), widgets...
- bayonetblaha, on 06/20/2008, -8/+9I never understood what the big deal with Opera was... it seems clumsier and less customizable than Firefox to me
- KeyGargoil, on 06/20/2008, -2/+3I like Opera but it wont work with Google Docs, unless your just viewing
- AlphaBronco, on 01/25/2009, -2/+3Opera's keyboard navigation shortcuts and speed are primarily the features that won me back from firefox a few years ago. That an the fact that it was the only browser on OpenBSD that had a working flash port.
Ever since, it's been an pleasant journey of discovering all the other features that Opera has to offer. I really like the fact that it has an integrated database style mail client as well. The bittorrent support is nice in a pinch, although it tends to hammer my system hard disk pretty hard under Windows. - frontporsche, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1At least one of the graphs is wrong. In the JavaScript Engine Speed graph, the Total Duration for IE should be off the chart, but it shows a total duration of only 200ms.
- JoemcC00L, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1I'll give it some more time, but I already miss the functionality of the "Awesome Bar" in FF3.
- AlphaBronco, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1Opera w/Google Calendar can be a little "squirrely" as well.
- myocnews, on 06/21/2008, -0/+0Well FireFox3 is still very buggy and resource eater.
- gsiliceo, on 06/20/2008, -7/+6Plug-in support, thats all.
- estvir, on 06/21/2008, -7/+4.. take up large amounts of memory?
And if we're comparing the raw basic use of a browser, so sans things like a torrent client, Opera wins over FF.
