Republican = idiots without facts. They should be embarrassed about how inaccurate their info is.
Shelley thought Linux was written by Chinese Hackers? And what's wrong with the Chinese.
She should be disgraced. She's going to hell.- kooft, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7This article is ambiguous at best and downright wrong at worst. He called Richard Stallman the founder of Linux, when it was actually Linus Torvalds. Sure, Richard Stallman is a prominent speaker in the open source community, but calling him the founder is not accurate.
The author calls Linux anti-American, which couldn't be further from the truth. It may be anti-capitalistic, but not anti-American. To be sure, Linux and the open source movement are very socialistic in nature. But how far do you want to go to separate America from socialism? Would getting rid of social security, medicare and medicaid be worth it to protect these 'core American values'?
From the article:
"As you might expect RMS has been selling his Linux software to communist governments like Venezuela and islamofascist rogue-states like Iran. As a result of this campaigning Iran now has a “LUG”, a forum for pro-linux activism."
Wow, Iran now has a Linux Users Group? Nothing can highlight Iran's triumph over the West more than 7 Linux users meeting together once or twice a month.
From the article:
"Would they have achieved this if they had not first been provided with American technology to copy?"
What does 'American technology to copy' mean? The only technology you need to form a LUG is perhaps paper and a pen, which hardly qualify as 'American technology'.
From the article:
"Should we be comfortable that stolen American trade-secrets which have been put into Linux are now in our enemies hands?"
And here's the strawman, clearly knowing that Linux has no stolen trade secrets (I'm not aware of any legal judgments against Linux) he spews FUD like he were a SCO public relations official.
The article seems to have been written by a scared uninformed child. - NICU, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Hey stop already... You know "Republican = idiots without facts. They should be embarrassed about how inaccurate their info is." is wrong. I'm willing to bet that 99% of republicans disagree with her. Don't waste your time assuming this is what republicans think. (I'm a democrat, we have our idiots too)
This website, shellytherepublican.com is awesome. I haven't been able to laugh this much in a long time. - understudy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1FYI
Not everyone on the right is a Republican or should identify as a Republican. Some are Fascists in disguise—especially recently.

- guttertrash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11shelly the republican is a satire site....
- Sxeptomaniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I knew that seemed too bizarre to be serious, but, then again, there are people who really are that weird.
- tfinniga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Here's a nice find from google..

they should look at what bush has been doing to fund the axis of evil http://www.strmz.com/Clip7326
By the way great link for the cuba story, some good arguments there to support switching to linux - salimfadhley, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Not to mention that the REAL reason why Cubans cannot buy Windows Vista is the illegal embargo which has kept them poor and prevents them from legally importing anything from the USA, let alone Microsoft's latest crock of crapware.
- schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Don't feed the troll, whether it's satirical or not. Just bury...
- hbee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Unbelievable!! Who are thses idiots??
- salimfadhley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3No, feed 'em - it's funny! The Republicans worst enemy is themselves.
- hbee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Maybe you're right but...DAMN!
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Why then, did no one stop using Windows and other Microsoft products when Cuba and Venezuela were using it?
You can turn this around so easily back at the trolls.
The hypocrisy is sickening....... - GnuTzu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5That's backwards. Open Source is our way of stimulating free thinking under oppressed regimes--which includes that of commies, right-wing radicals, and other kinds of extremists.
- gmprunner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What!? Who died and made him King? Oh, wait, Saddam...
- geekee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Actually, it's easier to argue that Linux is helping Castro stay in power by providing him with free resources.
- dwight0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2LOOK AT THE CHAT!
- LemonDefragger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2RIOT ON THE CHATBOX!!!

- adenansu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the real time chat box there.... wow, what a bad idea
- vann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There's a little chat widget on the right showcasing digg users' collective intelligence as we speak. Eh heh.
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Funny *****.
Wait, it IS a satire site, right? - Krovvy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Quick, we must go to war with the linux! Penguins everywhere will pay for taking away our freedoms!
This has to be satire, come on... - amillion3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Are people really this stupid? Jesus...
- Karyyk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Some maybe, but not that site. It's satire, through and through. Some idiots on both sides won't get that, but any person of reasonable intelligence will pick up on it almost instantly.
- fredxor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I had the displeasure of talking with the guy who runs the site. He's completely closed to the ideas of anyone else. He doesn't even know what Communism is and assumes everything that he's been writing about from tidbits of information that he picks up from who knows where. He has done jack ***** for research. If you stand up for Linux in any way, he'll immediately call you a godless communist and not listen to anything after that. His favorite defense is sarcastically saying that he is an uneducated redneck and he's never actually defended any of his points.
He's pretty much your average Bible-belt Christian fundamentalist - a person with a closed mind who won't listen to anyone who doesn't consistently agree with him. - IcedKirby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have no idea about this whole Democrat Republican nonsense because I'm Canadian.
Anyway, this is so stupid.
Silly American (s?), look what you make your country look like! - Hellmark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I personally hate STR, because while it is satire, it is a bit too ***** up for my tastes. Still, the image of gore with the caption "I took the initiative in creating the blunt" made things seem so much better.
