aaaaahhhh....... - Warom, on 05/31/2009, -1/+8:( nobody ever falls for my rick rolls, yet no one will ever tell me why.
- warMen, on 05/31/2009, -4/+10I've been needing to go out more. might as well hit up my local installfest
- billalbertson, on 05/31/2009, -1/+6Ways to spice up a LUG:
1. TOR examples on how to anonymously browse 4chan.
2. Session on home directory encryption do's and don'ts.
3. Hotties in penguin suits serving drinks.
And, if you ever want any women showing up at the LUG, make sure those hotties are guys...
There, now I think I may have offended everyone- did I miss anything? - BrownieMix, on 05/31/2009, -8/+12A Linux Users Group? Yeah, I'll pass. If I want to talk about Linux, I'll go to the Ubuntu forums or IM one of my friends from the forums, not participate in a small gathering of nerds.
- cliffzdude, on 05/31/2009, -2/+6Wow, somebody needs to Spice Up this article. It looks like it was recently a "how to start a lug" article, somebody edited it a tiny bit and retitled it. I thought we learned that lesson back with Windows ME.
I've even gone to a LUG meeting or two in my day, and this article is LAME. - dtfinch, on 05/31/2009, -0/+3Ours hasn't met in 8 years or so, and I haven't found any others in Southern Oregon since.

- maz2331, on 05/31/2009, -0/+2Strippers and beer work well.
- m3xican, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2invite Chuck Norris
- omfgjeannie, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1we tried getting strippers in SATA cables.
the campus police saw the email where i mentioned that. not sure if he was happy. XD - freebot, on 05/31/2009, -0/+1I have been thinking I should start a LUG for Nantucket island folk...
- astyguy, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1invite balmer
- pyrates, on 05/31/2009, -2/+2No thanks. I don't want a sausage fest, a meeting of the neck beards, or people who don't have a clue about hygiene.
- mikelist, on 05/31/2009, -1/+0started a lug, ceded control to the control freaks and was driven out by the it professionals and kids with disposable income equal to my paycheck. i still grok linux, but linuxers, not so much.
- papastout, on 05/31/2009, -2/+1Really? I mean REALLY? The local LUG here consists of people who would rather eat bad food and badmouth anyone who isn't an *ix user. It's a good place to grep solutions to minor command switch problems, but forget it when it comes to things like shell scripting, kernel play, or load balancing.
but I'm hopeful (= - bobartig, on 05/31/2009, -2/+1Back when I was in school, LUG stood for "Lesbian Until Graduation." Completely unrelated, but I can't shake the association at this point.
- repruhsent, on 05/31/2009, -5/+3I should go to med school and become a cardiologist. With knowledge of these fat nerd gatherings I could become a ***** millionaire by asking $5 for cardiac health advice in a booth set up by a LUG meeting or an installfest.
- ohreilly, on 05/31/2009, -2/+0The LUG in my area only seems to want to take the flimsiest pot shot at Windows (hur hur big bad Microsoft are making us pay for Windows!!!111111111) and occasionally OSX, yet discussion of the bad points of Linux (sorry GNU/Linux) appears to be strictly verboten.
- Pizzini3000, on 05/31/2009, -7/+5spice up my lesbian until graduation?

http://tinyurl.com/disguised-rick-roll - dankers, on 05/31/2009, -13/+2Yeah, that is kind of weird to meet up to talk about an OS and what flavor of the week you like.
I don't like this Linux crap on the front page of Digg all the time, the articles are bland and nothing really revolutionary. It's like these articles are just pushed to the front page, Digg has higher quality standards and shouldn't be pushed by a Linux agenda such as Slashdot.
Things like 'Astronomy Photo of the Day', Regular Light Bulbs Made SuperEfficient with UltraFast Laser and other good actual science articles.
Stuff that nerds truly like, that will grab our short attention span.

What is Digg?
