- greenx, on 02/09/2009, -11/+24Has it really come to this. M$ trying to get the benefits of open source for themselves. Yah. this goes to show you that M$ is really worried about being whipped by open source. M$ really sucks.
- genomega, on 02/09/2009, -1/+11With many countries, corps. and Governments switching to Linux, they have to do something.
- RunDiggMC, on 02/09/2009, -4/+13I guess Microsoft has finally seen -- or finally accepted -- the future.
- LostSoul83, on 02/10/2009, -0/+7How does that old saying go? "First they ignore you, then they mock you, then they fight you, then you win!"
- inactive, on 02/10/2009, -4/+11You can hate MS all you want, but you're the ones who finance MS by buying their products like the Xbox 360. Want to see MS go down? Then hit them where it hurts most. Don't buy any of their products.
- IntegerOverflow, on 02/10/2009, -0/+7It is a common practice in the industry to do competitor analysis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Competitor_analysis.
How many times have you seen a company present a table comparing their product with their competition?
You'd be crazy not to keep up with what your competitors are doing. And if you are a big company like Microsoft, Apple or Google, you will have people dedicated to tracking specific competitors. - cubicledrone, on 02/10/2009, -0/+7"Strong Team Member" means you will sit next to the head of the table with a jester's hat on and when the meeting organizer rings a bell you will bark like a dog, sound a very small pair of crash cymbals and say "Linux Sucks! Linux Sucks!" Then you will be fed a cracker.
- grungegbunny, on 02/09/2009, -3/+9Are they showing signs of fear?
- Peterix, on 02/09/2009, -3/+9Essentially a job that requires you to do evil against hackers who love freedom and companies who support them. Disgusting.
- cubicledrone, on 02/10/2009, -0/+6All I heard was "Waaaah! I can't play Fallout 3"
Then again, I probably should have stopped reading at "obfusciated" - Sealbhach, on 02/10/2009, -0/+6If he could be turned, he would become a powerful ally.
- abbathdoom, on 02/10/2009, -0/+6Isn't obvious to everyone out there that Microsoft is now in a big slow decline just like "big blue" became a shadow of its former self. Microsoft will never die out, or become totally obsolete, but their power is going to dwindle over the next decade.
- inactive, on 02/10/2009, -0/+5 I don't buy any of their products..No Windows OS,no XBox,no Zune...No e book reader.
- 8KDiamond, on 02/09/2009, -5/+10To the unlucky bastard they eventually hire, GOOD LUCK! No matter how hard you work you will fail, and your career will be over because you are going to get blamed for Microsoft's creaming in the market place. Money and power matter a lot but no one can ignore the trend (or shall I say tidal wave) of open source
- inactive, on 02/10/2009, -0/+5You use too many words and try to hard to sound like you're intelligent.
I'll help you out by parsing your paragraph down to something more digestible.

I couldn't use my wireless card, talk to my "girlfriend" with my webcam, install Fallout 3, (You have a girlfriend?), and I don't think this Linux thingy will ever catch on, besides, I'm too much of a jerk to figure out the most basic of installations that go with any OS because my computer came with Windows installed for me...
-----
What is it with you and your diatribe against Linux? You posted in three different threads on the topic, and you sound like an idiot.

Good luck in life kid, you're going to need it. - 9w43, on 02/10/2009, -0/+5Its too late MS, its only a matter of time before open source OS takes MS and apple
- Infidelcastr0, on 02/10/2009, -2/+6Charge a reasonable amount for windows and let me install it on all my computers.
Problem solved. - greenx, on 02/09/2009, -4/+7Get a grip.
- JackpotCity, on 02/09/2009, -2/+5This would a great opportunity for the right candidate, but it's going to be a huge task to make up the ground on the other Open Source guys I think.
- v73pontiac, on 02/10/2009, -0/+3Okay, let's call them Tzars
- inactive, on 02/10/2009, -0/+3 Very well said...And I agree. Open source is the wave of the future..get with the program or become obsolete.
- MCJackhammer, on 02/10/2009, -1/+4Hulu.com says hello from Intrepid Ibex Ubuntu....
:-)
P.S. Colbert Report ROCKS! - inactive, on 02/10/2009, -0/+3 Nope, they are too greedy to go back to doing that again...In spite of the fact that they were making millions when they did it.
Millions is no longer enough,it has to be billions squared. - fookoo, on 02/10/2009, -0/+3Can you say: Double agent???
- MCJackhammer, on 02/10/2009, -0/+3I think oss stands to gain more from MS going open source than the other way around, so I don't think MS wants to do that yet. Until they have to.
- uRmyHartBstopR, on 02/10/2009, -0/+2What? Just get hired and bring the place down, while you get pay for it. Hey I'll do it. On my resume to my next job there would be a line: I bought the Microsoft's Open Source branch down.
- iceblizz, on 02/10/2009, -0/+2Yes, they see as far as 2053
- stuffradio, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1I haven't had any RRODs yet.
- inactive, on 02/10/2009, -1/+2If the Xbox 360 didn't have such a high failure rate I wouldn't mind funding them by purchasing it. What does that have to do with not liking another product that they make? I can't stand Windows because I have used other Operating Systems that work better, and I count Linux as one of them. Let's talk about their products.
1. WIndows: Bloated, and overpriced. (Alternatives are cheaper or free)
2. Xbox 360: red ring of death is too prominent because they knowingly released a defective product.
3. Zune: I don't hate it, but I've grown to rely on my iPhone for my media needs, and other iPods which span a few generational product lines (3G, 4G, 5G) They are in mint condition. Finally, the Zune doesn't work with iTunes...
Why would I still respect Bill Gates? My previous donations to his company (Windows 3.1.1 through to XP) allowed him to be a very philanthropic man. He's a good man in that respect. I don't hate his company, but I cannot use his products. - dawngordon, on 09/11/2009, -0/+1I think it will be great, throw out some freebies, because I find many have a personal vendetta against bill and his wealth, not necessarily about his programs or abilities, it becomes more about the fact that he has pretty much run the business of internet, so I find some rebel against bill more then his products, I hope this works out for him
- MCJackhammer, on 02/10/2009, -1/+2"An Hero"???
- MCJackhammer, on 02/10/2009, -1/+2Don?
- PinkyTheWinky, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1Ltes be safe and estimate at 100 years shall we :P
- MedaFighterX, on 02/10/2009, -2/+2Jesus. Digg has become nothing but a Linux fanboy haven. This is sickening. All the comments that get dugg up are just uninformed people that know nothing about business and it's common practises.
- duckyinc, on 02/10/2009, -4/+1Your argument sucks ass, I can steal money from you even when I'm better -.-. This just shows Microsoft is greedy lol..
- anonymousmedic, on 02/10/2009, -11/+5I figured that being able to use my Wireless card, use hardware from the shelf of the store down the street, and being able to talk to my girlfriend with my webcam was reason enough not to use Linux. Do I really need to have another reason besides not wanting to use obfusciated and obsolete hardware just to enjoy Hulu.com? Oh, that and WINE utterly sucks, and requires a Windows CD to load the actual drivers and files needed to actually make it half functional. So why again would I use WINE? It can't play Fallout 3. Linux will never have the appeal of the average home user who just wants to game or email their friends the way it is now. Personally, I prefer being able to load and go, over spending hours configuring a computer to run just the way I need it to. So do many other people.
- anonymousmedic, on 02/10/2009, -11/+3Kill yourself, fanboy. If you An Hero, they'll remember you.
- EVILTHETURTLE, on 02/09/2009, -15/+3Leave digg.
