- sirjoebob, on 05/03/2009, -1/+66I can't believe someone has managed to keep a ME computer running this long. A friend of mine always said ME ran on TRINARY:
on, off, error - rnawky, on 05/03/2009, -5/+64Accurate statistics are accurate...
You're getting statistics from websites that are geared more towards a slightly more technical group of people.
Have a website like Google or Yahoo deliver their statistics. - mason092, on 05/03/2009, -3/+58It doubled over night?
- greenlight2001, on 05/03/2009, -2/+55And in 2 years, will have 213% market share!
- whitesaint, on 05/03/2009, -3/+55I know right! It's just like, what the *****? These statistics look to be way off. I recently read that Safari had hit 10% market share for web browsers, yet it says here that it's less than 2 percent. This can't be possible.
- Carinix, on 05/03/2009, -3/+541024x768 is still widely used..? Wait what.
- infectaphibian, on 05/03/2009, -7/+56A free OS with free applications and a strong user community is not a bad choice in "these troubled times."
- dhughes, on 05/03/2009, -0/+47 A 100% increase in one day!!
- Jeffler, on 05/03/2009, -1/+48Actually, its 99.5 - Madagascar shut down its ports
- LugaZap, on 05/03/2009, -5/+51Just waiting to start seeing Apple commercials. Hi Im a Mac, and Im a Linux.............
- AboveandBeyond, on 05/03/2009, -9/+45it's now 8%
it's now 14%
it's now 38%
it's now 86%
it's now 98%
it's now 100%
game over. - techdever, on 05/03/2009, -3/+37at this rate in about a year it will have a 300% market share
- AboveandBeyond, on 05/03/2009, -9/+41in linux world, you can make up any statement and it becomes a fact, as long as it's biased towards linux.
- LucasHenderson, on 05/03/2009, -0/+32I dugg this just for the laugh it gave me after seeing 1% a few days ago.
- rolf, on 05/03/2009, -0/+31I'm pretty sure it was just unary: error.
- 3242130193, on 05/03/2009, -0/+31And yet. It shows 3% back in July 2004. So the growth pretty similar.
Statistics are so easy to manipulate - Sakumi, on 05/03/2009, -2/+331920x1080 here.
I laugh in the face of your extra 120 lines of pixels! - rnawky, on 05/03/2009, -1/+311920x1200 here.
- nixfu, on 05/03/2009, -4/+33
2% DESKTOP.......
50% SERVERS. - MikeDugg, on 05/03/2009, -15/+43why do you people cream your pants over this *****?
- alexdemers, on 05/03/2009, -0/+27Ya, 76% of statistics are completely made up.
- stolemybike, on 05/03/2009, -2/+28Yeah but the article that said 1% was from last week. At this pace, Linux will have 100% marketshare by next year!
- t0x2c, on 05/03/2009, -0/+24Don't panic!
- LonelyTylenoL, on 05/03/2009, -2/+26That's called market competition my friend.
- f3n1x, on 05/03/2009, -0/+24why would you do that? to ***** up the readability?
they share the same kernel, therefore they are the same class of system. seperating linux distros would be like seperating XP home from XP professional. - supermanly, on 05/03/2009, -0/+21I'm curious how much it has to do with netbooks like EeePC/MSI Wind etc.
- KAMiKAZOW, on 05/03/2009, -0/+21Wait 'til Hurd is ready!
- s3Shane, on 05/03/2009, -0/+20Go on....
- whitesaint, on 05/03/2009, -3/+23Agreed. These statistics shouldn't be taken as to represent actual market share. A lot of websites attract certain audiences; like my website only attracts Mac users. If I were to publish my statistics, 90% of the market would own a Mac and 60% would use Safari. I call *****.
- harlowsmonkeys, on 05/03/2009, -5/+25w3schools caters to web develops, who are more likely to be working on Linux than the general population.
- deviantsteve, on 05/03/2009, -1/+20Only reason I still dual boot.
- nawill81, on 05/03/2009, -0/+19This is worldwide. Maybe the other was US only?
Edit: well not really worldwide, but it includes data from other contries. - poprocksandsoda, on 05/03/2009, -10/+28Wow, this comes only 10 years after people predicted that Linux would become a viable solution at the desktop.

Just think, at this rate in 20 years they could be at 6%. - mattus, on 05/03/2009, -1/+18And how much of this is 17- and 19-inch monitors that are set to the wrong resolution? See it all the time in workplaces.
- DarkShroud, on 05/03/2009, -3/+20That's what she said.
- inactive, on 05/03/2009, -4/+21it's over 9000!?
- decx, on 05/03/2009, -2/+18w3counter is a free counterservice

Nearly all the computers at my place of work use 1024x768.
- inactive, on 05/03/2009, -3/+19My OS can beat up your OS. I feel like such a man now.
- bphm42, on 05/03/2009, -2/+181-2% are probably within the margin of error...
