- mkpaa, on 03/19/2009, -0/+9True. Finally a version with pure kde 4.2 and not something messed up with kde 3.
Go vote for digikam to be included in kde 4 at http://www.digikam.org ! - jesperht, on 03/19/2009, -0/+8Insanely good photo app for Linux! Give it a try if you haven't already!

- regeya, on 03/19/2009, -1/+8I will be happy once k3b is ported.
Oh, and as soon as placement of applets on panels is fixed. - Sammi84, on 03/19/2009, -0/+6Weakest troll attempt ever.
- nardusg, on 03/19/2009, -0/+6Nice work :)
- jshabad00, on 03/19/2009, -0/+6and k3b?
- sloppychris, on 03/19/2009, -0/+6Repository here:
http://www.digikam.org/drupal/node/434#comment-183 ... - BLeAm, on 03/19/2009, -0/+5K3b snapshot is Qt4 ported already, you may interest to check their SVN.
- SigmundFreud, on 03/19/2009, -0/+5Instruction to install the new version in (k)Ubuntu intrepid: add the following line to the file /etc/apt/sources.list (you need to be root to edit it):
https://launchpad.net/~digikam-experimental/+archi ...
update, upgrade... and there you are.
I've been using it since the beta versions and it's a great improvement. - jernejovc, on 03/19/2009, -0/+2I think in KDE 4.2 placement of applets onto the panel is very good compared to 4.1 or 4.0 (you had to drag an applet really precisely between two applets that were already on the panel), because the applets move and make space for the new applet.
- dirtyforker, on 03/19/2009, -0/+2I didn't think they had 'majors' in primary school.
- argylesocks, on 03/20/2009, -0/+2I'm a very serious photographer and I think I might be able to drop aperture and light room for this
- ilgaz, on 03/21/2009, -0/+1As far as I used the older (kde 3) version thanks to Fink project, Digikam doesn't need you to drop anything. It works on file level, it is completely different from how other tools work. Of course, there is ''originals'' backed up but that is all.
There is no mystical ''iPhoto Library'' like 40 GB thing wondering around. - HonoredMule, on 03/19/2009, -0/+1Poor choices in education a pedigree does not make.
- KAMiKAZOW, on 03/19/2009, -0/+1This is not a snapshot. It's a release version. 1.60.0 to be exact. I wonder why no announcement has been made.
- jernejovc, on 03/19/2009, -0/+1I think you should fill in a wish request at http://bugs.kde.org . It's a good idea.
- regeya, on 03/19/2009, -0/+1That's what I don't like. They ALWAYS move to make sure there's plenty of space.
I want something in between my old KDE 1 setup and the old default Ximinan GNOME setup (and by extension, Ubuntu's default GNOME setup): Menu on the top left, maybe quick launchers, a system tray and clock on the right. On the bottom, a Show Desktop button, taskbar, and pager.
Currently, I can't do that with KDE 4, because the applets make sure they have equal space between each other.
I currently get over it by having a taskbar at the bottom, then shoving a bunch of applets in a panel on the right-hand-side of the screen. I like my current set up, but it would be nice to be able to set it up the way I originally wanted, which is the way my desktop has been set up for nearly 11 years, and still works very well for me, thankyouverymuch.
Aside from that, really, I think KDE 4 is fantastic! - inactive, on 03/19/2009, -8/+4I had to ask mum what your were talking about
she also said you were probably gay - atonalpanic, on 03/19/2009, -16/+2So what?
- inactive, on 03/19/2009, -16/+0Add bloat to all 3 platforms. Install KDE 4 today!
