- reprehendor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0schestowitz, what is your point??
Apart from that, what makes you use the pejorative term "snatched"? Would you also say "Redhat snatched JBOSS", or "Redhat snatched Sistina and GFS"?
And whatever you utter about Samba -- you are not very well informed.
It wasn't Jeremy Allison who started it, it was Andrew Tridgell (who still is leading the effort) who run it for a period as a one man show. Jeremy joined later (and is now also one of the Team leaders -- albeit the most visible one, because not only does he write code, he also isn't shy to publically comment "politics", and he is very outspoken, and I like him just as much as I like Tridge). - schestowitz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1CUPS was snatched by Apple. And, well, Samba was offered 40 million dollar, it's boring, but it turned from a one-man show (Allison) into a whole team that is funded by industry (and, yes, with GPLv3).
