- schestowitz, on 10/21/2007, -7/+24Who said Linux and games don't mix? :-)
- BrandonMills, on 10/21/2007, -2/+18If Firefox can pull in as much money as it has in donations to get a NY Times advertisement, maybe Linux users can pull together bribe money in order to bribe Valve to port Source to Linux.
The result would be worth every damned penny donated. - Dankoozy, on 10/17/2007, -0/+11torrent: http://zerowing.idsoftware.com:6969/torrents/01700 ...
- Ub3rg33k, on 10/17/2007, -0/+8Considering they were asking $1M for a port for Apple, I'm guessing that would be the amount needed for Linux.
- HAKdragon, on 10/17/2007, -0/+8Remember that the Orange Box is coming to the PS3, which uses OpenGL. That means that the rendering engine would already be complete.
- HanSolo69, on 10/24/2007, -4/+11Linux Enemy Territory? I didn't realize Linux had so many enemies.
- sexybobo, on 10/17/2007, -2/+9Source is DX9 they would have to rewrite the majority of the code to port it.
- bstock, on 10/17/2007, -0/+6Actually, looks like this one was submitted first, 10 minutes before the other. Just that the other was made popular before this one was.
- goffy59, on 10/17/2007, -0/+5Hopefully this becomes reality because I'm sick of Windows forcing me to update. How come all the games that are out now run fine on Windows XP but on Vista Ultimate.... ohhh ***** they don't work the same; they actually run slower. :( Ubuntu is a big step in the RIGHT direction.
- axeugene69, on 10/16/2007, -0/+5Don't click, it's a trojan. ***** die FAN20 and go to HELL.
- ubergeek09, on 10/17/2007, -0/+5Good, Linux needs more propietary games that run natively with in the operating system.
- mooninite, on 10/17/2007, -2/+6How many times do we need to put this on the front page though? I'm a Linux user through and through, but there's no need to dupe this over and over.

http://www.digg.com/linux_unix/ET_QW_Linux_Demo_Co ... - UKsHaDoW, on 10/19/2007, -0/+4if your talking about image quality Theres nothing wrong with linux graphics. If you can do it it on windows using OpenGL, you can do it on Linux.
- inactive, on 10/24/2007, -0/+4In the boss battle, you have to defeat Steve Balmer. This is not as easy as it sounds. You have to doge an onslaught of chairs and monkey screams to reach him.
- UKsHaDoW, on 10/17/2007, -0/+4Well "pcpimpster" I work in the industry, and for servers, linux is the way. I know some Univirsity lectures which all encourage there students to use Linux. So expect to see it to become more used, in the mass market to. Most IT Qualified people, are getting sick of "Microsoft Standards", why don't they just use the open standards, thats what there for?

- Coldkill, on 10/20/2007, -0/+3Do you enjoy being a troll? Idiot.
- 1n4007, on 10/16/2007, -0/+3Anyone else getting random segfaults after about 1-40mins gameplay? :(
- argusbargus, on 10/19/2007, -1/+4Nope. The problem I have is that it won't let me stop playing... Can you hear it? It's calling me back... Got to go...
- tech42er, on 10/17/2007, -0/+2One reason I'm on Ubuntu is because my new laptop came with Vista.
- tech42er, on 10/19/2007, -1/+3I actually liked Quake Wars, because of its nature. I hate arena shooters and I don't care for Battlefield. I think this is a good middle ground. Of course, being able to play it in Linux is extremely important as well.

- inactive, on 10/16/2007, -0/+2it works fine in cedega and wine (forget which one i actually use, but both work)
- piesforyou, on 10/16/2007, -0/+2That's a duplicate comment!
- inactive, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Incomplete sentences. Not like.
- sparrowkc, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1The link for the torrent is dead...
- Stemp, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1A Trojan ? My god i'm scared !!
Aren't we in the Unix/Linux section ? - HanSolo69, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1You're totally right, with idiots like you being ignorant like that Linux is never going to get teh t0ta11y 1337 gameZ.
- tech42er, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Why should we listen to you? You've proven yourself to be a troll.
- fuckingusername, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1anyone know of a bench mark of this game running windows vs linux ?
- sybesis, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1pcimpster...i hope its a joke....or you're really loosing your life...either way, you need a life....
- t0ny, on 10/18/2007, -1/+2Linux in my opinion is very good at games. The only problem is that there is few games for Linux.
- pcpimpster, on 10/18/2007, -2/+3I played it, no offense, its kind of weak on any system it plays on.
- goffy59, on 10/19/2007, -1/+1Good way of putting it.
- tech42er, on 10/17/2007, -1/+1What> They're too LOW< so it's unplayable. You lost me.
- waebi, on 10/16/2007, -0/+0FPS? :-)
i tried it with 1.6, but veery laggy (7900GTX)
is there a good manual, or a "good" version of wine? - goffy59, on 10/19/2007, -4/+4Yeah I'm going to have to agree. Quake 4 was MUCH better. I'm a fan of id software games. But Quake Wars along with Doom 3 were HUGE disappointments. I can definitely see the lacking of creativity. The gun sounds in QW and D3 were both horrible and sound very puny and weak. The repetitive play of QW was torture. And D3's repetitive scare tactics were more annoying then scary. You were probably dugg down by some moron who prefers graphics over game play. QW lacked much creative game play and was pretty boring. You mught of been dugg down by a console bitch that only plays FPS's. What are they going to come out with next, Quake Wars 2 3 and 4? Quake 4 was a good addition to the series mainly because each quake has something very cool to offer every time they made one, but QW is just utter *****.
- jazzmichael, on 10/17/2007, -0/+0If you think that there are no great games for Linux, think again!
The next generation of Linux gaming has arrived. - goffy59, on 10/17/2007, -3/+3All you need is creative, talented game creators and let the good times roll. Not all this BS from the console market that lacks originality and uniqueness. *COUGH* halo 3*.... been done about 200 times.... *yawn!!
Wheres the real RPG's at like Fallout or Baldur's Gate. I mean fallout 3 is lost because Bethesda lacks talent in the RPG department. They always forget that "R", ROLE.... - falafelkiosken, on 10/17/2007, -6/+6I like games coming to Linux, soon nobody will need Winblows
- inactive, on 10/17/2007, -2/+1this was on the front page less than 2 hours ago. buried
- BrandonMills, on 10/19/2007, -3/+2Quake Wars tried be to two games in one and failed at being both of them. ( Quake + Battlefield ) Of course it's a letdown.
- pcpimpster, on 10/24/2007, -6/+3I agree, poor gameplay and weapons. Graphics are from a few clips ago. But to the Linux "only" user who wants to play native games - its like throwing a rotten steak to a hungry pack of dogs. They will eat it and like it no matter how bad it sucks.
- yhan, on 10/19/2007, -4/+1Better not
- pcpimpster, on 10/20/2007, -4/+1You’re talking about open standards (and servers) which have nothing to do with gaming and only have to do with a small portion of the MS world which is Office.
Any .NET developer worth his weight knows how to leverage the easier and more accepted Windows environment with solutions (x5) - while minimizing the MS grip which is its reliance on the Office Suite and its standards.
If you can .NET you can remain as open as you want to be on a solid platform and do much, much more because the hard ***** is already done for you.
Linux IT is fixing drivers and nuances that aren't supported by anyone other then "the community"
Windows is real solutions in real time for real problems for many smaller companies who cant afford your "Univirsity" education.
- superyounan1, on 10/17/2007, -6/+3the minimum requirements are way too low, its not playable (although it should get better when the new ati drivers come)
- pcpimpster, on 10/20/2007, -5/+1Well, its the biggest blockbuster you'll have this year on Linux so i would enjoy it too... If i wasnt playing on my windows box, having a hard time playing because i cant decide on which game to play in my huge library of killer titles that run native on my OS.
- BuckCynnie, on 10/19/2007, -7/+3Well, Quake Wars isn't my thing, but I am still disappointed in the graphics department of Linux. BTW, I understand that it is the drivers, but still, Linux needs good graphics or it is not going to be getting many games.
- pcpimpster, on 10/17/2007, -6/+1STFU you have NO clue what your talking about.
Get a career in the IT industry and you'll find out quick how Windows is useful to the masses.
You got A game, not even close to what you need to dethrone the king. - Frostman3D, on 10/19/2007, -11/+6Quake Wars really sucks in my opinion.
