- damack, on 06/04/2009, -0/+4And also why more people need to give Android a shot.
Android doesn't get nearly as much attention as it should especially on Digg but it's certainly worth giving a shot. - solarwind24, on 06/04/2009, -0/+4This would be awesome if the PIC32 supported a proper, expandable memory bus. The CPU costs less th an $10 each.
- rtechie, on 06/04/2009, -0/+4Linux + MIPS = pain
based on my experiences working with embedded Linux.
And don't think this means "Android phone apps will work on these devices". They won't. Remember that the target is "set top boxes". This is Android sold as a generic embedded operating system, like QNX, VxWorks or WinCE. It's basically MontaVista Linux by Google. - ohporter, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4I'm the team lead for Android at EA...
This initial MIPS port was designed specifically for the MIPS32 compliant RMI Au1250. Current Loongson chips are all 64-bit and Android and the 32-bit MIPS port need a bit of work to handle MIPS64. We've got some interest from a number of MIPS64 users so I'm pretty sure it'll get supported not too far in the future. - shadash, on 06/04/2009, -1/+4http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Portable
PsP CPU = MIPS R4000-based, clocked from 1 to 333 MHz

Work with Ubuntu on my current one. - earthforce1, on 06/05/2009, -0/+2What are you talking about? The MIPS has a much nicer instruction set than the x86.
You need a copy of "See MIPS Run" by Dominic Sweetman.
Sadly, I haven't used mine in 3 years. - meghalc, on 06/05/2009, -0/+2whatever happened to that guy installing linux on the iphone?

don't believe it does - inactive, on 06/04/2009, -9/+4I think digg has gotten too sheek for this kind of geek.
