- cesclaveria, on 07/17/2008, -0/+11it seems it is time for an upgrade, I'm still using 2.6.17
- bangmalley, on 08/30/2008, -0/+9Changelog:
http://kernelnewbies.org/LinuxChanges - ethana2, on 07/17/2008, -1/+9This isn't holy-war-ish enough for Digg-- If I wanted something simple and factual like this, I'd go someplace like Kernel Trap.
- DestroyFascism, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3I like the better KVM support bit. Hopefully it helps keep Windows apps like Adobe in tune and prevents system lagg.
- cdigioia, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3It's the corporations, man! It's 1984! ***** the New World Order! The rich get richer and the poor get poorer!!
(hope people get the joke) - cutchyacokov, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3[Insert comment to the effect that this is apparently no time for meta-jokes]
- ssjtoma, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2not zombies, monkeys!
- darkharmonics, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2Dugg because it was funny, but some of us use it for real purposes. I have virtual meetings over mine (happens to have been already supported).
- 70phr3, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Copycat : ) Thanks for posting this anyway. KernelNewbies is where all kernel releases need to be dugg from in the future.
- mrsteveman1, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Distros should be doing it for users, and they aren't. They have all the source for everything in the repos including the kernel and all drivers, they can EASILY make upgrade packages when new kernels come out and keep stuff from breaking.
- zwaldowski, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1What distros are you using?
- dcolley, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Look except for servers Linux is not ready for prime time. I've got it on one of my machines and I think that I will delete tonight. Sorry.
- LeviTheSmith, on 07/17/2008, -2/+3Levi The Smith
- mrsteveman1, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1The only one i know of that upgrades new kernels when they are released upstream is Arch, all the others stick with the kernel that was out when the release was made, even if it means, for instance, Ubuntu supporting 2.6.15 in 6.06 for what like 5 YEARS?
There is a 2.6.26 kernel out now, and even the most recent Ubuntu release is using 2.6.24 which lacks a lot of things, for instance latency top which i was hoping to use, but can't now without ripping the entire kernel out for a new one, which ubuntu SHOULD BE DOING for me. There is no reason whatsoever for them to hold back kernels, they have the source for everything on the system, they can upgrade the kernel AND make sure it doesn't break stuff. - jamessavik, on 07/17/2008, -3/+3yahoo- just what we need: more web-cam support. More bandwidth consumed by masturbating zombies.
- lopla, on 07/17/2008, -6/+1This linrux stuff got nothing on Vista.
- manacit2, on 07/17/2008, -16/+2[Insert comment about story not being about iPhone or Obama]
- jasmus, on 07/17/2008, -18/+2wow, one comment? Ok, lets see.. um... cool! yeah, well, i guess there's a reason there's only one comment.

What is Digg?
