- wallclimber, on 09/03/2008, -0/+6Very funny, Chrissy...now get back to work. :)
btw, I agree the 'even for grannies' line is a bit annoying, but it's still true. KDE is great! - wallclimber, on 09/04/2008, -0/+3troubalex, no worries and no harm done. I work with older people all the time, so I do understand. I enjoyed reading about your experience. I did have the advantage of starting with computers when I was pretty young (40-ish :o), and had children that taught me how to handle my own computers (one funny piece of advice my son gave me: The ability to cuss creatively is essential).
You're right that older people may have a harder time adjusting to new things, but I've found they learn more easily when people are patient with them, as you were. Our brains just learn things differently when we are older. I think that's why it's been so much fun for me to teach older people about computers. They know I understand...being one of them myself. (not in my 70s yet, though) :o) - troubalex, on 09/04/2008, -0/+2Let me actually try to get this straight. The Granny I was refering to is 77 years old. I'm not saying *all* grannies are not techy, but at least *most* of the ones I know. And I do think that it's hard work to learn completely new things at that age.
No offense meant to any grannies out here. ;-) - cday, on 09/03/2008, -1/+3Ha Ha! Where's Wallclimber? She needs to see this one! She'll hate that "Even for Grannies" line though.
- schestowitz, on 09/06/2008, -4/+2I thought about modifying that headline.
