- Eoxx, on 06/06/2008, -0/+8KDE 4.0 was meant to be a intermediate version that introduced the new concepts ...
Look at the 4.1 version for the real thing ... - mossblaser, on 06/06/2008, -0/+5Man, all these angry KDE4 haters evidently didn't read the release notes about what KDE4 was and was not. Until they do there will be random rant after random rant...
- n0odles, on 06/06/2008, -0/+3Whats better, Microsoft infested Mono Gnome?
- fredbird67, on 08/28/2008, -0/+0Hey, I hate KDE4 -- and I was a longtime KDE user until it came out!
N0odles, I used to be a GNOME user until I found out about Microsoft and Mono getting their mitts all over it.
That's why, even though my computer can and has run KDE and GNOME comfortably, I'm now an Xfce user. B-) - SnowCrashv5, on 06/06/2008, -2/+2I don't really care what the KDE developers state, but the way they have gone about releasing and hyping KDE 4.x.x is stupid. They built and built and built the hype for the 4.0 milestone, even though they were screaming it wasn't perfect. But the hype outshone the voices of caution. Now everyone was waiting for some stability in 4.1, and we're not going to get it then either, again, after hyping 4.1 will be usable. By the time the 4.x version is usable no one will give a crap about it. I, personally, was looking forward to 4.x series to be usable but it doesn't look like that'll happen for a year or so and I'll keep my happy ass right at 3.x until then.
- moonbd, on 07/14/2008, -0/+0thumbs up!
- xenocoder, on 06/06/2008, -2/+0I agree that it is clearly stated that KDE 4.0 - 4.1 was for and wasn't for, but then again, when it becomes the standard KDE option in major distributions (Fedora 9) it is bound to come under a lot more scrutiny. The choice of using KDE for me in the past came down to the amount of options and overall power of KDE, I personally just don't like the direction where KDE is going. Couple that with some KDE-based "rants" that 4.0 is visionary and you are bound to raise someone's ire. So I won't piss and moan about where KDE went, I just won't use it.
