- DBeta, on 11/11/2008, -0/+10Haven't tried 4.2 yet. I liked the concepts in 4.0, but I found it almost unusable. Looking at screenshots from 3.0 to 3.5, each .1 release was a HUGE change for the better. So by KDE 4.5, I can guess that it will be a rock solid, clean to the max, desktop environment.
- RobotBuddha, on 11/11/2008, -1/+8Agreed, except that trunk stopped working for me a few days ago. When it was working though, it was fantastic.
- puelocesar, on 11/11/2008, -0/+5I have KDE 4.2 trunk on a Ubuntu inside vmware and must say it's getting very nice, if you don't mind some sharp edges... Kudos for all the developers
For those who a sneak peek at 4.2, you have two good options:
* A live cd with an updated revision: http://home.kde.org/~binner/kde-four-live/
* And the project Neon for KDE nightly builds for Ubuntu: http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/User:Apachelogger/Proje ...
Some screenshots can be seen here: http://aseigo.blogspot.com/2008/11/milestones.html - Dongvid, on 11/11/2008, -0/+4I'm using KDEMOD on ArchLinux and I've never been happier. I'm at version 4.1.3 with some backports and my constant distro and de-flipping has come to an end. I'm settled on KDE4 and archlinux.
- dualscreenman, on 11/12/2008, -0/+44.1 does rock, but I'll admit I had a harder time loving 4.0.
- amfantasy, on 11/11/2008, -0/+4Need more screen shots, and I can't believe I just read an article.
- inactive, on 11/11/2008, -1/+54.0 _was_ trash, but 4.1 is really solid and stable. I highly recommend trying it; it's the best desktop environment I've ever used.
- puelocesar, on 11/11/2008, -0/+4Strange, It's working here on kde 4.2 trunk from project neon.. Or you are talking about 4.1? On a kde 4.1 system I have that thing is completely broken, thought it got better with recent updates
- Kingoftherings, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3I played with it for a bit a while ago in Gentoo. I haven't used it for a while since it updates too often for me to take the time to compile it all.
Meh, I'll probably just install 4.1.3 and wait until 4.2 is out for real. - MistaMatt90, on 11/12/2008, -4/+2You said 4.1 was going to rock.. and 4.0.....
- Waterrat, on 11/11/2008, -3/+1 Have not tried it yet either.
- Vadi0, on 11/12/2008, -4/+1Cool... Is this a "you can look but not touch" or a "you can look and touch" type KDE release?
Because they didn't tell us that last time, only said it -after- that we weren't supposed to use it... or use and not cry when it all breaks down horribly. - 4DFX, on 11/11/2008, -4/+1The system tray transparency is still broken. It makes it look ugly and I'm not using it until they fix it.
