- dualscreenman, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1"Release Early, often" also includes pre-releases. Distros releasing with KDE4 != release.
It's also quite funny that even though KDE *did* stick to "release early, often", you would still criticize them for 4.0 being a "disappointment". You can't have it both ways.
Number 3 is sensationalistic bullcrap.
Number 4 is just wrong. The release of KDE4 coincided too closely with the release of Kubuntu and OpenSuse for a usable Kubuntu/OpenSuse release including KDE4 as the default desktop. There just wouldn't have been enough time to port all of the tools over. Fedora on the other hand managed to pull it off, and if Fedora isn't a major distro I don't know what is.
In regards to number 5, people should be happy with KDE 4.1, coming out at the end of this month. (Release early, often!) It may not have every last feature that Kicker/KDesktop in KDE 3.5.x has, but it has a good deal of the fundamental features back in place, with a lot of them being better than ever.
