Seriously. I can choose to use KDE, and argue that it's the best for X reason and be absolutely correct. My friend can run gnome and tell me that gnome is better than KDE for reason Y, and he's still absolutely right.
And in the end, the competition is what makes them great.
My other friend can run windows. He gets what's given to him and if he doesn't like it, he has to abandon everything. He can't run a different desktop manager. He can't add all the cool applets to his start bar. He can't disable the graphical interface to run a good lean server. He can't run it without a mouse. He can't decide to take the whole thing, flop it on a USB stick and hijack the library system to boot his *nix desktop.
The controversy is what makes it great and forces us to out-perform the rest.
My ex-boss told me something neat. Never buy the product from the #1 manufacturer. They're usually complacent and out of touch. Take the guy that's in second place. He'll work harder for your business because he wants to bee #1, and usually has an equal if not better product. - Taromsn, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I'm with Spiderman.
- keyboardduder, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Please dont sell out to MS. They ***** suck. If they take out any popular flavor, i will gladly throw eggs at their HQs
