- tnoy, on 10/19/2008, -2/+6It mentions that in the first ***** paragraph.
- cquinnd, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3So you can name a well-known "brick and mortar" computer retailer that you like better?
The author may be in a place like my home town, without a nearby Fry's or Microcenter. And compared to some of the other big box stores, CompUSA stayed fairly consistent over the years (leaving it to Individual opinion if that was consistently good or bad).
That's not saying that there are not better places to shop online, or better stores in your local area, but for someplace to shop for computers IRL, it was pretty good imho. - watcht, on 10/19/2008, -1/+4Ahh I failed to RTFA
- sexybobo, on 10/19/2008, -1/+3No he said CompUSA moved to an online store model.
CompUSA died and tigerdirect bought the name they didn't "switched gears and moved to an Internet-sales model". - insllvn, on 10/21/2008, -1/+2Frankly, if I couldn't find a locally owned shop (there was one in the town over from where I grew up), a Fry's, or a Microcenter, I would go online.
- sexybobo, on 10/20/2008, -1/+2Just because they use lube when they rape you up the ass doesn't make them better then all the other stores. If you don't have a microcenter or a fry's nearby go to newegg.com or zipzoomfly.com or one of the other great online retailers that are usually 10-20% cheaper after shipping.
My sister went to compusa 2 years ago to buy a pci nic $45 latter she left the store with an identical nic to one i bought at newegg for $10 with free shipping. - watcht, on 10/19/2008, -3/+4Uhm didnt CompUSA die?
- insllvn, on 10/19/2008, -2/+3"CompUSA used to be my favorite brick and mortar place to buy computers."
I... I'm sorry, but I couldn't take the author seriously after that. I could bash on CompUSA, or relate anecdotal horror stories all day, but is has already been said best by the internet's favorite pirate: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=co ... - motang, on 10/19/2008, -1/+1Hmm...so now I have to choose between Sylvania, Insporn Mini, and a Mininote!
