- Apoy, on 11/17/2008, -0/+19Well Linux is free and it will be very convenient for cafe owners to use this rather than Windows which requires them to buy license.
- divinediva, on 11/17/2008, -0/+10It's really great news that people are considering using Linux nowadays!
- DangerCollie, on 11/17/2008, -1/+6At least with Linux you don't have to worry about keyloggers, trojans and the virus of the day. It's smart to use. Users can't jack with the system settings. Guest account stupidity can be wiped away with a few keystrokes.
Heck, you could reinstall your standard disk image every night if you wanted. - gandhii, on 11/17/2008, -2/+1I like Linux as much as the next guy, but I don't see what the big deal is. One of the first internet cafes I've ever been to was using Linux, and this was back in the mid/late 90's. I know of some public libraries in my area that use linux at least as early as 2001. And I don't know how much earlier they had started doing that. Linux was always the superior OS for public internet computers. Easy to lock down and secure. And once one machine is setup, all the rest are easy to duplicate. The only limiting factor is whether the person responsible for setting up the machines in each area knows enough about Linux to pull it off. And thankfully that is increasing since it is so easy to install these days.

- inactive, on 11/17/2008, -10/+2NO, you booted the machine from a Ubuntu Live CD. Very old gag. Funny though.
When you're done browsing in the net cafe just boot from the live CD, ask the kid behind the counter for assistance/refund because you couldnt use the net at all, watch him freak out.
Although a photo of a Gnome desktop is guaranteed Digg frontpage material. Good hustle kid. You're learning, diggers believe anything you tell them.
