- bugnuker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21there is a program that does this. i cant find it, but i used to have it. give it source image, give it type of text you want the image to be, and bam! you have yourself a ascii pic. this linux one was a sample included in the app. i'll try to find the application name.

- Haroldx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10There are generators for this, ya know.
- rocke86, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8in firefox press "ctrl -" several times to shrink it some. It is squished and still huge but awesome since you can see it better.
- akinbanjo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8The shading is great.
- silouette747, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Disturbing!!!! And I quote " Telltheworldthatwe'regoingtobethegrim*reaperofinnocentorphanedchildren.* " this sentence is found around the beak.
- plarp, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8wow this is OLD
- sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They used a generator... ages ago.
- lefthandedlinux, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5it is huge on my little bitty 1024x768 monitor
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is weak. Buried.
- reiggin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6It took him three hours just to shade the upper lip.
- ztirffritz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2When I was in college we used to send an email to each other that was an ASCII image of a nake lady on her side. You couldn't tell what it was unless you printed it. Back then we shared an IBM dot-matrix line printer that printed on green bar paper. It was always funny to hear someone get busted..."OK, who printed the 6 ft tall naked lady again?!?"
- Snakey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There are some yellow things in his left eye. Also one in his right eye and in the body beneath his mouth.
(OMG, I just realized that I must be really boring to try and find these errors) - dixonr315, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I dugg this so I am guilty of what I am about to say, but only tech nerds would find this incredibly amazing lol. If I showed this to my girlfriend, I am pretty sure that would be the end of us.
- cosmotic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You can use programs to generate ASCII art from any image. This is stupid.
- MrKas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2holding ctrl and using your scroll wheel will achieve the same thing...
- CJz44, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Select all, copy, paste into WordPad, set font as "Courier New", set text size to 1 and it looks better.
- strangeguitar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3http://www.c6.org/toogle/
do a search for tux, nude, porn, or whatever... get a nice ascii image of your request. - isolationism, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A little user-defined CSS action to fix the proportions and make it more easily viewable ...
pre {

letter-spacing: 0ex;

} - jameshales, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1GIMP using aalib, libcaca, or a dozen others possibly.
- chrisdrum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yes, this is old and nothing speacial any more. Its probably made by some perl script. i had a poster of this very image several years ago (1999 or sometime) that I bought from www.thinkgeek.com.
- yourwar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah... the things that make front page sometimes... *shrugs*
- lefthandedlinux, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4use opera and you can zoom out and get a better vew of it. i think it is great :))
- Murdats, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2use any browser and shrink text (because it is just text)
- Dotnetsky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if you Linux afficionados are into MONO and ASP.NET, you can do this a lot better with any image on the web here:
http://www.eggheadcafe.com/articles/20060701.asp - ztirffritz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This isn't it, but it was similar to this:
http://www.textfiles.com/art/jessie.art - bradleos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2And, once you add color, etc. it's no longer ASCII art.
- mindlessxd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hehehe
http://www.c6.org/toogle/index.php?phrase=windows+xp - mattybyrnes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2You seriously think this took a long time? This took about 5 mins with one of the aformentioned programs and an image of Tux. This wasn't done by hand, just fed the image and a bunch of code.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3stupids, this can be easily be done with software.
Provide the image and the text, the sw converts it into ASCII
And, this image is provided in such a software's website!
Why are you all so lame!
http://www.dasfisk.dk/bmp2html/ - Llanowar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Since when is ASCII art the use of colors instead of characters to create a picture?
- grayapple, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'll dig it since someone said it was the linux source code!! :D
- nessup, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3O RLY?
- jameshales, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is terrible. First of all, there are many programs capable of doing this or similar. Secondly, ASCII art really shouldn't include colours - it's weak. Finally, it's just an ASCII Tux... big deal.
- lefthandedlinux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Murdats, and others, opera has a zoom feature that is not found in firefox, i am not talking about resizing text, it actually zooms the entire page layout (either in or out) install & run opera and in the menu under "view" select zoom, there is also keyboad shortcuts too...
- isunktheship, on 11/25/2007, -0/+0Very nice, mines stretched but he's still lookin' good!
- morcheeba, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If you look carefully, you can see function "c_NCR53C4", which is *critical* to installing linux in new computers. It appears multiple times, but the last instance on the page is the important one.
- Splizxer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I knew people who use linux wasted their time, but jeez...
- soupnrc, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5that's what she said
- pbjohnson79, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3old news, no digg
- teherga, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Doesn't mean that it is not still cool.
- MoonZ, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5This is very old stuff. There's a bunch of programs that performs this, on Windows, Linux, whatever... The author, AxcesDenyed, must be freakin' naive. No Digg.
- detrate, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4older than jesus
- jollyroger814, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1um, if someone did this without cheating then i really think you have a bit of too much time on your hand.
- soupnrc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0it's really cool and all... but that person's got some SERIOUS time on their hands....
- steal_apps01, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3your mom's no longer ASCII art
- Cymrubeats, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Yeah.i was gonna reply about how that exact picture, as well as the golden gate bridge (amongst other things) is used as a demonstration of one of those ascii renderer thingies.
