- weizbox, on 04/22/2008, -2/+10I can't believe people are still making a big deal about RedHat not aiming at making a desktop distro.... did anyone read the press release? It started off by RedHat saying that they had no intentions of making one... and now people act like they HAD one, and dropped it. It's a different distro for different reasons. RedHat was never was a desktop distro, it was aimed at security and management. Ubuntu is different, it's for the generic/average desktop users... they were never in the same category to begin with.
Ubuntu hype seems to spawn from anywhere... and this is the 8th article I've seen on digg that completely warped the RedHat press release/desktop issue in order to promote Ubuntu to a place were this imaginary RedHat desktop distro used to be. Ubuntu has tons of great things about it... don't lie about the facts or claim 'victory' to promote it. - YodaJones, on 04/22/2008, -2/+3So far all the Ubuntu versions I have used are great and just keep getting better at a pretty fast pace. I have used Ubuntu server since 7.10 and it is like a rock stable. I am eager to test the final release of Ubuntu server 8.04.
