I always hated that everyone has to be an ass when they realize someone doesn't know something about computers - mahadiga, on 11/27/2008, -0/+1Every nation must hire a politician services to push Linux among average users.
- kd420, on 11/21/2008, -1/+2Yeah, it's sometimes hard remembering what it's like to start using Linux. I just recalled the first time seeing the root directory in Nautilus, and being totally overwhelmed by all the folders (Why isn't there a Program Files folder!!). It took me a few tries of dual booting Ubuntu with XP till I finally moved 100% to Linux.
It's a pretty big change for some people, having to use the terminal seems daunting for some. Luckily distro developers have realized that meeting these needs is essential for converting a lot of people to Linux, so if you're fortunate you can go the whole way without ever typing a command. - CommanderKern, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2Michael Hall is awesome.
- sajchurchey, on 11/21/2008, -1/+2This is a very good article, and it's applicable to technical support in general. These approaches will help corporate Windows users as well, in an ideal world where you have the time and patience for this sort of thing.
