Up at the tippy-top of many American corporations, they're asking for updates and help with their servers at very low cost. If you ask them about Linux as a possibility, they respond, "Isn't that what college kids use?" or "It isn't safe." There is so much misinformation out there, that even if a shrink-wrapped box was on a shelf you wouldn't get the PHBs to give it much beyond a wince. First, the organic marketing model; then, the shrink-wrap. If someone's using it at work, they're more inclined to consider it at home (c.f., Outlook, Excel).
