- oregonbob2000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11I loaded Ubuntu 7.04, easiest install I ever did. It automatically got everything right except my video card. A little search fixed that. I'm a consultant and Ubuntu finally has polished up Linux desktop to be The Best Desktop. It is like a cross - best of Mac and best of Windows. Ubuntu is superb.
Last night, with around four clicks, I completely upgraded it to Gusty 7.10 Beta. So far it is flawless, except the same video card mis-detection. I have used them all and this is the Best Yet! - allyant, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Im using OSX, and I am still going to digg you down.

broadcom etc wireless cards are still a bother. why cant you just get a wire? though nearly all intel cards will work fine out the box. my laptop did :D - DAC1138, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Pretty funny, but I actually liked this. It's practical. I bookmarked this so I can show my friends/parents/relatives. And it really is as simple as that for ubuntu (on most machines). Mine requires a third party Xserver driver because of a bug in my BIOS. (laptop)

- Drood, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2I upgraded from Feisty last night and had several issues which took a couple of hours to fix, but yeah, for the most part, this BETA is better than XP. Two big selling points for me are being able to WRITE to NTFS now, and Compiz built in. Though I wish I the snow plugin was there. (Can't get it working at all with various downloads.)
