How And Why I Made The Switch From Vista To Linux
seo-scoop.com — A week or so ago I took a scary leap that turned out to be not so scary after all. I installed Ubuntu on my Vista PC. I ’ve been researching this for a while now, and knew that I could dual-boot, so the plan was that I would install some flavor of Linux without getting rid of Vista. I assumed I would play with Linux for a few days, tire of it, and..

- thewump, on 05/16/2008, -2/+26We get alot of posts like this here - and it's great to see people switching, but would be better if posted to the Windows section - those are the poor bastards who need the info.
- Planets, on 05/17/2008, -2/+4Great article, but the thing keeping me from switching is still gaming.
- modestmelody, on 05/17/2008, -0/+2One of the things that had kept me dual booting was Steam. Except almost all of my Steam games now work in Linux under Wine. Add Microsoft Office to that list (OO isn't quite there yet, especially calc), and I've officially removed Windows from my computer.

Huh? Yeah, Windows is a commercial OS, as is OSX, but most often you get it with a new machine rather than buying it separately. And what's this "constantly" stuff? Has he been "constantly" buying copies of XP since it came out?
Not to mention he never mentions what he actually uses his computer for, which makes a big difference when picking an OS and your software.- s0m31john, on 05/17/2008, -2/+5I know, I use my desktop primarily for bloat, so Windows is a must for me.
/s - mckooiker, on 05/17/2008, -1/+6Even if you "get" it with a new machine you pay for it....
That's exactly why I get angry. Those bastards never put the price label of the software that comes on your brand new machine. I want to know how much I pay extra for the software and then be able to choose if I want it or not.
Doesn't sound too unreasonable does it? - morgret, on 06/19/2008, -0/+1Did you even really look at the site and read the article? The byline is DazzlinDonna, the site is in purple, and the picture of DazzlinDonna next to the article is of someone very much a woman. The "he never mentions" makes the comment much less credible.
