HowTo: Convert Windows Users to Ubuntu ( and more importantly when NOT to )
ubuntuforums.org — Many diggers seem to be Ubuntu evangelists but many are going about it in ways that can only hurt the Linux community as a whole. This is a well written ubuntuforums.org guide detailing how to show people the advantages of Ubuntu while acknowledging it's faults ( Hardware support ) and those that won't see as much benefit from Ubuntu ( Gamers )

- SevenForever, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Nice introduction to ubuntu without the "windoze is for lamerz lol". Nice introduction, gets the good points of a linux operating system across.
- Haroldx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Don't ever try to convert someone right when you're installing, do it before they actually see it. That only implies to intermediate to newbie Windows users. More advanced users usually don't need much help, just guidance.
- Longhorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0good post for both sides
- Shalabi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So I can play World of Warcraft and use iTunes on Ubuntu, right?
- treak007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah, you can use wine
- Shalabi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And it will run just as fast?
- MioTheGreat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In the Wine Application DB, iTunes is presently rated at: 'Garbage'. While it will install under certain distros, it will not run. At all.
- trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1As Mio said iTunes doesn't work at all in WINE ( I don't know about crossover office ) but many people have gotten WOW running in WINE and it is obviously reconfigured to work in cedgega. If you want itunes for the iPod support, all of the major Music applications on Linux support iPod sync. If you want iTunes for the interface or for buying music from iTunes music store ( unlikely as that is DRM and this is Digg ) then sorry. Your iTunes purchased music will not play in Linux, neither will almost any DRM'd media sans DVDs. You can try banshee for a semi iTunes like interface.

For a WoW specific guide look here:

I have heard some claim that WoW runs FASTER in Ubuntu than XP but I don't know if that is really the case.
- screenienerd, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3or you could just not bother, since Windows works better...
- proglottis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Well linux must work better for something, or no-one would use it.
