Have fun! - richpav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2CamStudio has a video tutorial on how to download and install it. Strange that it was made with Camtasia Studio.
http://www.camstudio.org/video/install - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There's also Snapz Pro X for Mac users looking to screencast:
http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/ - cecil_t, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why didn't he make a video of how to make a video? Seems like the obvious thing to do here...
- einfeldt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wink also runs on Linux. I recommend it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7Pretty interesting. Though, you should've added the fact that it's a Linux app in the description. Misled me, there.
- jhepoy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5nice tutorial..
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Anybody know a screen recorder for Mac that's _free_. Everybody and their dog have written screen recorders for Mac, all of them shareware. I've dished out over £100 on apps this month for functionality I enjoy in Windows freeware - for free.
- jdkane, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8I've always wanted to make a video of my desktop so I can watch my computer on TV while its away for repairs. Reliving great moments of my own computing history.
- drunkenoaf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I miss that app that came with Lotus Smartsuite that did exactly that, but only worked on Windows 3.x. I've badly missed that... until I learned about wink. Here. Now. Go Digg!
- MightyGiant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2BB Flashback is another windows alternative.
http://www.bbsoftware.co.uk/BBFlashBack.aspx - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wink makes swf videos of your desktop with annotations, and vnc2swf can do it for remote desktops.
- danboarder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@pabster - mind sharing how to do this with VLC? thanks!
- tahim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1do tell, as i've had the same problem
- macewan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wink works just fine under Linux also
- moodyblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why do I fully understand that train of thought?
- weestay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0just rip the dvd using dvd decrypter and dvd shrink(to copy to a dvd-r) or auto gordian knot(to encode to divx or similar format) for windows, or dvd::rip for linux
- unrealJEDI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nevermind... figured out how to do it... i love the internet :)
- Mambo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I like Camtasia Studio. It isn't free, but I believe it has a free trial.
- unrealJEDI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anybody know of a screen capture that will take screenshots of DVDs and movies? The ones I have tried don't take screen shots of stuff in Windows Media Player or any media player for that matter, anyone know of a program that can?
- NemesisBLK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@danboarder:
Just click on the Snapshot menu entry under the Video menu; that is for VLC in *nix, probably the same on Win32 though. - pabster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1VLC?
- redxii, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That's a lot of work. I'll just load up CamStudio in WINE (which is already installed) and click the record button to record or the stop button to stop.
- donsherio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The title should have said for Linux. i clicked on it htinking it was windows
- beligum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You may want you check out ScreenKast at http://sourceforge.net/projects/screenkast
It's brand new and is the first real screen capturing program for GNU/Linux.
Moreover, you can use it to share your captured tutorials on http://captorials.com - PhantomJoe, on 11/20/2007, -0/+0The comments arent showing
- JimMarchwBBV, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Two years ago I did a 15 minute walkthough of how to hack a Diebold voting machine (the "central tabulator" at a county elections HQ) using Screen Recorder Gold (shareware). Worked pretty good, only issue is that the audio track is a bit low and if you get it from Google Video, you really need to download it as Google messes up the 800x600 screen res something fierce.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7262269533321066760&q=diebold
I found that 15fps was still workable in this type of use. And once downloaded, Google Video still uses the same "alt-enter" keystroke to go fullscreen as the MS-Video I first used as a player when it was an AVI and it's then just as viewable as it was in original form. Original size was 154megs. - billbd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Snapz Pro X for Mac is excellent, but it has yet to work with the intel Macs. Waiting. . .
- matthom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I agree. AutoScreenRecorder does the job well.
- drg73, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just use vnc2swf and you're all set, very very easy and ready for web or chm.
- ecow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1my vote goes to wink as well. It's perfect for this task.
- konspence, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5Xgl for windows...?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1uhhh no i haven't.
