- sjvn, on 12/09/2008, -0/+31Slowly, ever so bloody slowly, the courts and efforts like this one are knocking down the insanity of software patents.
Steven - LostSoul83, on 12/10/2008, -2/+12This sounds like a smart idea to me. The bogus patent threats are almost as bad as the "interoperability pledge".
Microsoft supposedly wants to encourage interoperability, yet they only support their own file systems (with the exception of things like ISO9600 for CDs). For Linux users to access content on Windows machines, we have to use a reverse-engineered driver like NTFS-3G or a reverse-engineered protocol like SMB. Don't get me wrong: these are both great projects and I use them all the time. It's just that a company that claims interoperability should actually do something about it. - Br3ach, on 12/10/2008, -0/+7Definitely a positive venture for the Linux developers.
In a world where being a patent troll can be a business plan, they will need things like this. - ch40sBr1ng3r, on 12/10/2008, -1/+8Dugg for Novell ( as an OpenSuse user ). Good that things like these are coming up, Usually us [open-source] developers dont have much protection going for us.
- oleka, on 12/10/2008, -1/+5Are those insane "software patents" still being granted nowadays ?
Patent offices need fresh air - open your windows, please. - Stonekeeper, on 12/11/2008, -0/+4In a world with no walls or fences, there's no need for windows or gates!
- ch40sBr1ng3r, on 12/10/2008, -0/+4Those non-existent users will bury you now. :)
- Rikkochet, on 12/10/2008, -0/+3I don't know. How do you kill that which has no life?

- inactive, on 12/11/2008, -0/+1lol The public service do that every day, It takes all morning discussing it, By lunchtime they have planned it out, after lunch they have outsourced the labor, (the janitor) and by the afternoon around 3PM the windows are finally opened. The Janitor then shuts them before 5pm.//

http://flashgamez.biz/ - corbinat, on 12/10/2008, -0/+0Hmm I'm not sure if BringVictory are the right people for the job. I mean it seems like their heart is in the right place, but they don't ever get much done. Its a step in the right direction though.
- inactive, on 12/10/2008, -22/+2how do you patent defend that which has no users
