- metamorfoza, on 09/25/2008, -3/+27I think the saying is: Once you go Mac your friends think that you are latent homosexual.
- Rudegar, on 09/25/2008, -1/+20dugg for a linux user chatting with a real girl!!!
even if she's prob his sister :P - Metaleks, on 09/25/2008, -1/+14Tabs on the file manager! w00t! And a list view! That one was a long time coming.
And personally, its been a while since I've used Ekiga, but after looking at those screens, I might have to give it another go. Pretty good release. Looking forward to GNOME 3.0 now, though. - kragil, on 09/25/2008, -0/+13And after SEVEN YEARS this bug has been fixed!!

Hooray progress! - santaliqueur, on 09/25/2008, -1/+13In the Zoidberg voice?
- Jareth86, on 09/25/2008, -0/+12I switched to KDE a while ago, but its nice to see Gnome finally have a good gui for multi monitor support.
- DiscipleOfGeo, on 09/25/2008, -2/+14Tabs inside the file Manager?
...
I just came. - zombiepig, on 09/25/2008, -0/+12yup, wait for intrepid in october, then you'll get this latest version of gnome installed
- santaliqueur, on 09/25/2008, -4/+13I love Apple computers so much, but I hate users like you. Just let people use what they want to use and stfu.
- Chicken001, on 09/25/2008, -3/+12GNOME impresses me with every release. Love it.
- YodaJones, on 09/25/2008, -3/+10Cool! Has anyone installed it on Ubuntu 8.04 yet?
- superjamie, on 09/25/2008, -0/+7This release of GNOME will be in the next release of Ubuntu, 8.10 Intrepid Ibex, due in October.
The Xorg, GNOME and Ubuntu projects are all on 6-month release cycles, with a month gap inbetween. - fearsofgun, on 09/25/2008, -3/+9is this going to promt me for the update? i have ubuntu for the first time
- jameshales, on 09/25/2008, -0/+6You can read about it here: http://www.ucc.asn.au/services/door.ucc
- Fergy, on 09/25/2008, -0/+6When the next release of Ubuntu (8.10) comes out in 30 October you can do an upgrade from your 8.04 to 8.10. This way all your software including Gnome gets updated.
- infiniphunk, on 09/25/2008, -0/+6When is OS X going to have a usable file-manager? Everytime I have to use Finder I get frustrated with the shortage of options for customization. Why can't Finder have something that quickly and easily lets you browse to major important directories on the system? I want to browse to more than just 'home' and 'applications' and the 'Mac OS X'? When will you be able to resize a window in Mac without having to drag from the bottom right corner of the window? This infuriates me.
- kelly.seay, on 09/25/2008, -0/+6Maybe for 2.26 they will finally get Google Calendar working completely with Evolution. I have been waiting for 2-way syncing!
- ingvildr, on 09/25/2008, -0/+6I think in 2.26-beyond they are adding the ability to customize the toolbars so you could reorder things or add things that aren't there by default, like a new tab button. Double clicking on the tab bar to open a new tab is something I miss though, keep doing it through habit.
- jakethecake, on 09/25/2008, -0/+5Ubuntu 8.10 release in october.
- YodaJones, on 09/25/2008, -0/+5That is a cool application with interesting potential. Thanks for sharing.
- cdawzrd, on 09/25/2008, -0/+5Interesting how the "buddies" in the Empathy screenshot are security devices... that would be a cool setup
- sukimashita, on 09/25/2008, -0/+4Guess what, this is fixed in GNOME 2.24. Titles are truncated to avoid the issue you describe and expand on hover.
- McPOW, on 09/25/2008, -0/+4had a mac, gave it back. it was hype.
- Mejogid, on 09/24/2008, -0/+4@ingvildr
You can't have your cake and eat it, if you don't like the clutter of tabs you can still use New Windows and not even have the tab bar show up. - bigdee973, on 09/25/2008, -1/+5when will 2.24 be updated into ubuntu?
- NinjaNato, on 09/25/2008, -1/+5AppleMacStud, I'm sick of your over-the-top apple fan boy *****. The verbal diarrhea you've been spewing lately is the reason people like me are no longer interested in Apple.
User blocked. - Kragnerac, on 09/25/2008, -0/+4No restart for monitor changes? Sound theme support? Nautilus finally has tabs?! YATTA! Do want! :D
- zombiepig, on 09/25/2008, -0/+4That's fixed in 2.24... nautilus now truncates long file names
- oobuntu, on 09/25/2008, -0/+4what a ridiculous list.
meanwhile..."Microsoft has said that it plans to remove a lot of the standard apps from Windows 7 in order to make the new OS 'cleaner.' Among the apps for the chop are Windows Mail, Windows Photo Gallery and Windows Movie Maker, which will no longer be included with the operating system as standard. Instead, equivalent versions of the apps will be available from Microsoft's Windows Live download service as optional free downloads, much like the new BETA versions of the apps that Windows Live offers today."
maybe you could make another list. 10 things that windows 95 has that windows 7 won't. - naganooch, on 09/25/2008, -1/+5i know it's nitpicky, but one thing that always baffled me when checking out gnome is that nautilus and the desktop don't truncate long filenames when viewing a folder as icons...so they either run down over the top of icons on a row beneath them, or affect the horizontal spacing between rows. is this a design decision or an oversight? it's kinda ugly, and shouldn't be that difficult of a thing to fix, or add an option for.
still yay for better multi monitor support - ingvildr, on 09/25/2008, -0/+4Well it doesn't effect me really since I remove the sidebar and mainbar. I just think they should clean it up a bit, maybe just have back and forward buttons for history and the breadcrumb bar next to it similar to vista. Since Gnome is all about clean and simple interfaces.
- directrix13, on 09/25/2008, -0/+3I hope so.
- LastDitchHero, on 09/25/2008, -1/+4Have they fixed gvfs yet? It causes problems with samba and plenty of others
- motang, on 09/25/2008, -1/+4Yeah on my Eee Box, and it's stable and works well. I tried on my HP notebook but the Boardcom wireless won't kick in (even with NDISWrapper), so going to have to wait for the Beta or the RC.
- directrix13, on 09/25/2008, -1/+4I'm looking forward to Ekiga 3.0.
- OneLess, on 09/25/2008, -1/+4Am I right in thinking this is only going to be available for Ubuntu once Intrepid is released?
- TheWindBlows, on 09/25/2008, -1/+4Why is there not a new tab button on nautilus?
It doesn't need to be a big icon just a small easy to access one would be great. - molom, on 09/25/2008, -4/+7I'm going to not pay an extra $2000 for a Mac Pro when I don't need it! Macs are not perfect so... Shut the hell up!
- powatom, on 09/25/2008, -0/+3My desktop icons are vertically aligned - is there something I'm missing?
I can't see a horizontal alignment option though - so if that's what you're talking about, then it seems like a pretty big oversight. I've just never bothered trying to horizontally align stuff :S - sukimashita, on 09/25/2008, -0/+3It had a couple of annoying problems during the gnome-vfs -> gvfs transition, seems to work almost beautifully now (also feels more stable/mature).
- weeFred, on 09/25/2008, -0/+3What would be the point in having a cake and not eating it?
- srg13, on 09/25/2008, -0/+3It's already in Intrepid, so if you really want it now, you could just upgrade to it now (I think it's still an alpha, but it's working pretty well for me).
But it's not going to be in the repositories for Hardy - if you really couldn't wait for Intrepid to be released (some time next month), and you didn't want to use a pre-release version, then you could probably install it from source... That's not really worth the effort in my opinion though... - alexforcefive, on 09/25/2008, -1/+4how DARE you question a foss developer? Quick, everyone bury him!
- molom, on 09/25/2008, -0/+2Can't wait for Topaz! :D
- techmaster, on 09/25/2008, -0/+2The best feature is that 500@ekiga.net girl.
- srg13, on 09/25/2008, -0/+2You can't actually see any difference at all unless you open a tab...
- zombiepig, on 09/25/2008, -0/+2webkit for epiphany didn't make it into 2.24 - it's still using gecko by default
