- wisam, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17You're a jerk.

- InetRoadkill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6They do need to address the gnome screen-saver crashing/lock up problem. It's a very visible and major bug.
- muramasa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5XGL is an extension to the X server and really has nothing to do with Gnome.
- EgoDemens, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Dasher has been around for some time now, usually found in Accessibility on the Applications menu. If not "sudo apt-get install dasher" does the job in Ubuntu
- urfe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Screenshot gallery of Gnome, but not 2.17.x:
Version: 2.10.0
Build: 05/23/2005. - flimsy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I just hope gnome can be a little little faster, which may be hopeless.
- pixelmixer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2visually it seems the same.
I'm sure theres more changes under the hood, but as it is now I wouldnt switch. I'm usually an early adopter of new things if they have features that I dont already have that I think would be cool, but in this case I think i'll stick with my current gnome version and wait till its done with development. As soon as its done I'll probably be one of the first to fully adopt it tho. - psxman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2One thing I've noticed from this release is Dasher, which seems really cool.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2urfe is right: http://linux.softpedia.com/screenshots//GNOME_1.jpg
- drizek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3gnome screen-saver is itself a bug that needs to be addressed.
- netant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1bizarre. I just can't stand KDE, particularly its appearance and non-user-intuitive interface configuration. (Based on my experiences using Knoppix.) Not that Gnome (on Dropline Gnome) is notably better, just easier on *my* eyes (or sense of UI appreciation).
- gJon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I would definitely use this if I were to give a linux box to someone unfamiliar to linux, but I still prefer fluxbox.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
--------------------------
This release is a snapshot of development code. Although it is
buildable and usable, it is primarily intended for testing and hacking
purposes. GNOME uses odd minor version numbers to indicate
development status." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm the only one here that sees every new gnome version the same as the previous one?
-I'm a gnome user tough :) - Varean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just because its a new version doesn't mean it has to look different. Simple alterations in the DE source code or some rewritting of some functions of an application or two are enough.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Ewwwwwwwww :x
- CovardeAnonimo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3my pet peevees with gnome is the overal apearance (not as elegant and polished as KDE), the lack of configuration options and the incredibly annoying filechooser.
i know there's GTK-Qt that makes gnome apps look a little more like KDE apps, but it changes only how widgets are drawn, if it could also replace GTK/Gnome common dialogs with their KDE equivalents, i would use more GTK apps. right now i try always to find a KDE equivalent of the app I need instead. - Kuipo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Does this have XGL built in? How does that work, do they have to add XGL on every time, or will it eventually be added into Gnome?
- schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -16/+5GNOME 2.17.3 screenshot gallery, for those seeking visual insight...
