- Rustafur, on 04/15/2008, -1/+6That Super Mario background, used in the examples, has to be the best thing to hit the desktop since the flying toaster screen saver.
- estaticd, on 04/15/2008, -0/+5I'm using Compiz Fusion, the -o [number] option changes the opacity of the xwinwrap "frame" - if you look closely at the example with glmatrix, I zoom into the icon to show that the screensaver is actually blended with the icons. If opacity is set to 1 (opaque) then the xwinwrap "frame" would cover up the icons.
I'm sure something nifty with Compiz window rules and opacity settings could be used as well.
-Wayne - allywilson, on 04/15/2008, -0/+2I just did it on Gutsy within a minute or so. Only issue I had was that I copied the text for the launcher - which doesn't do the double minus (--) properly - oh, and had to sudo it.
- mrloco, on 04/15/2008, -0/+2Has anyone else got the sudden urge to play BF:V?
- Shootfast, on 04/15/2008, -0/+2Ahh cool. Thanks for the explanation :)
- addicted68098, on 04/15/2008, -1/+3May I suggest using the flying toaster screensaver. It's like a party. Or something.
- Shootfast, on 04/15/2008, -0/+2Wait, how did he get the icons to show as well? I thought that using xwinwrap meant replacing nautilus from drawing the desktop. (I'm not on a linux machine to check at the moment)
- shantzg001, on 09/03/2008, -0/+1I found a few short comings with xwinwrap and also wanted a cpl of new features, so I have restarted its development here: http://digg.com/linux_unix/Shantz_XWinWrap_The_Mov ...
Check it out and let me know ur comments and feature requests. - knight666, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1I ***** love that screensaver.
Too bad my graphics card can't handle it because when I upgraded my parts I had to downgrade my graphics card. ;[
No monies = no toasters. ;[ - Philluminati, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1I like the idea of videos on my desktop and then transparent terminals ontop. It's a bit like having the T.V. on in the background but it's less wasteful easier to get distracted by :-)
- weizbox, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1are you getting the same lag that this guy did? what's your comp specs?
I haven't tried it out yet.. but prob will after work :) - schestowitz, on 04/15/2008, -2/+2Nice tune in the background.
- DontThinkSo, on 04/15/2008, -1/+1It runs over nautilus - he set the screensaver to be transparent (his opacity is set to .2 or 20%), which means icons are visible.
- killbert24, on 04/15/2008, -1/+1Opens up a range of possibilites. Matrix code anybody? Porn scene for the pervs? Hillary laughing over and over? Endless fun.
- weizbox, on 04/15/2008, -2/+1wow... a severely laggy animated mario background... grats?
kinda cool trick tho... can't wait till something like this can be implemented in an easier fashion and run smoother.
