- php4me, on 09/19/2008, -0/+4There are certain places where BSD is better, but I want my operating system to be GPL. There is no reason to hide the basic workings of a computer.

- evolutionaryit, on 09/19/2008, -0/+0Most modern FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) comes from a mix of community AND industry involvement. It's almost a requisite symbiotic relationship that allows both to thrive. FOSS exists within the context of Capitalism and feeds its growth, despite some clear misperceptions. The BSD vs. GPL stuff is getting to be a tired issue - but lets leave the annoying stuff for the lawyers. =P IMHO I support all flavors of FOSS.
- PReitz, on 09/19/2008, -3/+1I agree that the BSD license is more business friendly.
Also, the article makes the comment that software development should be open like mathematics and scientific research. I say that as soon as the government and universities start giving me grants to develop software, then I'll make it open and free :)
