- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anyone know where I can get the new redhat 9 distro? I have the older version and some of the stuff won't work on my lappy.
- rhall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you can get redhat 9 and many other iso distros at http://www.linuxiso.org
- aplardi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am trying to find a install CD of the latest SUSE Linux. I do have SuSe Linux Pro 9.1 (or 2) but I know whatever I have it is older.

i know there's really no 'best', but i picked ubuntu 'cause it's most closely funtions like windows / mac (ie easier to get used to) and has been the ONLY distro to detect and configure every piece of hardware on my laptop, including my display (1280x768 - most only accept 1280x1024) and my wireless card. - ConwayJim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0now to pick a distro, hmm which one is the best?
- bash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0direct link please: http://www.linuxisotorrent.com/
conwayjim: good question. - NoOneButMe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hard Distro's: Gentoo, Slackware, LFS, Debian
Soft/Easy Distro's: Ubuntu, Fedora Core, SuSE.
I personally prefer Slackware - it was the first distro i used(Jumped into the deep end) - cssdev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://digg.com/linux_unix/Linux_Can_Make_You_Cool
- bash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0alright this is a question fired off to all digg users.
im thinking of moving straight to linux by probably partitioning my hd. heres my question: should i go with a user-friendly distro (and please, list off some) or go with a "hard" one so even though its hard at first i can pick up other distros easily (i think slackware falls into this category, but please name some more "hard" distros)? - Luke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Gentoo is what I use for my desktop and for my flash drive I use DSL....
- zeroed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Red Hat no longer offers a personal version of Linux. They do, however, support http://fedora.redhat.com/ , which is a community based Linux distro. Its not bad, but I still like Slackware.

- cssdev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"i have tryed linux about a dozen times and ended up bouncing back to windows all because of a lack of software"
Welcome to [insert any platform other than Windows here]. - adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just downloaded slack, I'm still digging around to see if anyone has tried it on my model of laptop yet. I'll probably just say screw it and end up slapping it on.
- MikeEnIke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Link doensn't work.
