https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/11/Feature ... - mmcgrath, on 01/14/2009, -0/+44.1's pretty good. I've used it with F10 for 8-10 hours a day every day since F10 shipped. Not a single crash.

Leonidas: Ah, coding. That's going to be a problem. I seem to have developed carpal tunnel syndrome from uninstalling Windows so many times. - ohplease, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3
1. It was a joke, it's a modified '300' quote.
2. I build enterprise Linux and ESX servers, I don't need a lesson on Ubuntu - banosd, on 01/14/2009, -1/+3The next version ought to be Maximus
- mmcgrath, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2Did you confuse Fedora for Debian? Because Fedora's been moving forward faster then any other distro out there.

your comment is commentous. - inactive, on 01/14/2009, -1/+3I think quite a few people know who SGI are. Get over yourself.
- RTLM, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2No he's right RHEL is based on Fedora. Fedora is the direct descendant of the old Red Hat Linux which doesn't exist any more. Basically Fedora 1 is what Red Hat 10 would have been. RHEL is a separate distro entirely that uses Fedora as a starting point.
- farfromsubtl, on 01/14/2009, -3/+5Houston, we have a problem.
- Hermmunster, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2Tomis,
Wake up. Sheesh, you've been sleeping for the past 5 years and we've all been trying to wake you up, but you refused. Must have been the broken hibernate of Windows or that you are just asleep mid-peel of the apple. - Hermmunster, on 01/14/2009, -1/+3The issue with the wireless problems is with the hardware manufacturers. Most notably Atheros and Broadcom. They have all but refused over the years to provide Linux with any sort of driver and refuse to release the technical specs so that the community can write their own.
What is found most often in the Windows world with drivers is that though they are available upon first install of the OS they are sometimes tough to locate and to install. I fix computers and do my fair share of re-installations and I can attest to the fact that Wireless on Windows can be as difficult as on Linux.
I believe things will change for the Linux community as I think Broadcom recently released code for the Linux drivers to open source.
As well, under 8.04 of Ubuntu wireless was extremely hap-hazard while 8.10 of Ubuntu is much smoother and you can actually get it working.
If the distros were able to accomplish this on their own they should have accomplished it years ago with significantly more effort being put in. I consider it pure laziness.
But, alas with wireless we are talking only a small fraction of the potential user base of Linux. So, maybe 10% of all Linux based systems need a wireless setup and it makes no sense as one of those minor 10% to scream the "worthless" song of Linux due to that. - BlackWarp, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2You can have KDE 4 have a 'real' desktop now. Folder View plasmoid has been updated =]

- gerard0, on 01/15/2009, -0/+1Fedora developers, What is your profession?
HA-OOH! HA-OOH! HA-OOH!.
Dugg just for the codename. - inactive, on 01/14/2009, -0/+1Which is why most businesses use Red Hat Enterprise Linux (which is Fedora-based), not Ubuntu, right?
- Hermmunster, on 01/14/2009, -0/+1Well, with Balmer's shinny head I don't think there'll be much shade around except when he picks up chairs to toss them at rats abandoning ship.
- Renian, on 01/14/2009, -0/+1This will not be quick. You will not enjoy this.
- Hermmunster, on 01/14/2009, -0/+1All Linux distro's need to fix their shutdown and reboot times. It takes far too long to watch them close out every daemon in reverse order. Shutdown under Linux should be 2 seconds max. But no...it takes far far far too long.
