- LocutusB, on 12/18/2008, -0/+1You both missed the point of the article. In Linux it is easy to move an installed program from one Linux machine to another. Something almost impossible to do with windows.
- silfiriel, on 12/18/2008, -0/+1wich it was true, but it isn't, in windows you have system restore and there's nothing easier then that, click choose next restart ( system restore automaticaly makes restore points before installation or after plus regualer system check point) and your documents and files are safe no matter if you had them before the restore point or after.. also in windows you have the F8 boot menu after a crash or just use the instalation cd to repair start up or windows.
also the article is confusing.
plus linux is most definetly not easy to recover from disasters.
it was ubuntu 8.10 (last edition) that added the "last config settings" after a crash before that you can kill yourself trying to revive the os - razorxpress, on 12/17/2008, -0/+1I think to change the MAC address of any network card you don't need a virtualbox.
ifconfig eth0 hw ether <yourprevioushardwareaddress>
would do the job. With any GUI network configuration tool you can even change the hardware address to use any adress. In Windows Computer also it is not hard either. A simple configuration box at the network card's properties does it. So it's not a big deal on any OS, if i correctly got what your problem and solution was
