- joeolivas, on 10/10/2007, -1/+46So, a pirate walks into a bar...
- kjk437, on 10/10/2007, -2/+37... and the pirate replies, "ARRRR, it be drivin' me nuts!"
- JonTheGoose, on 10/10/2007, -3/+33...with a ships wheel shoved down his pants....
- Avor, on 10/10/2007, -3/+31... the bartender asks "Doesn't that bother you?" ...
- steelmaverick, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20Best reply tree on digg. ever.
- schestowitz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Has this been resolved since he wrote it 2.5 years ago? He's pretty much leading the stable kernel team these days, so he's in control and he can address pet peeves.
Another kernel issue that is being addressed is this:
http://digg.com/linux_unix/Linux_Kernel_Count - sp1nm0nkey, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Yeah and just because he wrote an article about it doesn't mean you should do it. Seriously, writing to files from kernel space is -badbadbad-
- OneAndOnlySnob, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7I love Ubuntu. Being a computer scientist, I understood every word and found the entire article fascinating. Oh yeah, and UBUNTU FTW LOL WAT IS LINUX
- postaldave, on 10/10/2007, -9/+12and all the ubuntu fanboys go "huh?"
- migla, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2First, someone who probably thought it an interesting read, submitted the story. Then enough users (i.e. people who have "signed up" on the digg.com website) agreed that it was a good read (possibly without considering the old date), and clicked on the text "digg it" which can usually be found in the upper left part of the page. When enough users "digg" a story, it will be displayed on the front page.
- colinrgodsey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1either theres some secret humor im missing, or that article needs to be seriously rewritten. writing to files in kernel space is bad... so why the tutorial?
- db113456, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Great humor, i enjoyed the article, and the subject itself, now digg me down for being an insidious geek.
- theRIAA, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1KFC???
- jull1234, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought of that..:)
- DiggLive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3...He should have seen it coming!
- Piedramente, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I think the 'yes' command is obvious here....
- sgtpppr, on 10/10/2007, -6/+6How did this get on the frontpage? Man...
- daftman, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Ouch!
- dylon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0This article is a very nice read for any developer, not just kernel hackers. How many systems are plagued by the fact any one can just create a file, (or an database table)? Makes for really bad maintenance and it pushes a wrong level of abstraction on *any* software system.
- natedouglas, on 10/10/2007, -8/+7I thought that said "Driving Me Nuts -- Things You Never Should Do in the KENNEL" and thought it was bestiality porn. Dug down for the disappointment.
- macbookpromat, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Simply put, don't ***** with the kernel, on any OS.
- SkaVanker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1And what can you do in kernel then?
- u16085, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1Ok, and 99% of us that understand that article... now what? ?SYNTAX ERROR
- ekravchenko, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2wtf... Dude what you do in your spare time is your business, you don't need to post it on digg..
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+4old old old
Buried accordingly. - DiggLive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2OK, I buried you.
- DiggLive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1I thought it was about Michael Vick.
- longhairman1337, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2what's a kernel? lol
- speedemonspecv, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1Hmm, Kevin's dugg something submitted by a guy who's icon is the Reddit guy. Interesting. Maybe a new partnership with Digg and Reddit on the horizon?
- maz2331, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3... with smoke rising from his crotch, and the Captain yelling "Arrgh. How many times I tell ye' to rape first, then pillage, then BURN..."
- da5id, on 10/10/2007, -9/+2OK, I won't. Bury it now?
- Terc, on 10/10/2007, -11/+1Too bad is has absolutely no information relevant to the article.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -15/+3... the confused bartender then asks "Since when do pirates drive ships?" ...
