- canthraxp, on 04/27/2008, -14/+439Guess that's another reason to use linux, no spoonfuls of crap from fox news.
- nemoder, on 04/27/2008, -6/+308The videos even work perfectly fine in Linux with the user agent switcher set to IE. There's just no excuse for this.
- Shroom08, on 04/27/2008, -8/+224And you want to view foxnews because...
- lilbugleboy09, on 04/27/2008, -8/+203You people have it all wrong, Linux is blocking Fox, not the other way around.
- z0mbie2099, on 04/27/2008, -6/+144Probably a good thing, but wtf does an OS have to do with viewing yellow journalism site?
- VIrus9, on 04/27/2008, -9/+143It's simple really. Despite the popularity of Ubuntu, Linux still has the reputation of being an OS that someone has to have at least three working brain cells to use. Why would FoxNews want anyone with three working brain cells to watch their videos?
- Phocion55, on 04/27/2008, -5/+102Web standards. Everyone wins.
- Spr0k3t, on 04/27/2008, -8/+104I think an email is due for this new webmaster.
- MagicIcarus, on 04/27/2008, -6/+91Another reason to switch to linux.
- IntruderII, on 04/27/2008, -2/+80Hello? It's common knowledge that terrorists prefer Linux.
- insllvn, on 04/27/2008, -6/+74User Agent Switcher add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59
an XML file you can import to give you a large range of user agents to play with: http://techpatterns.com/downloads/firefox/useragen ...
Also, I can confirm that switching the user agent to IE6 (WinXP) works. This is blacklisting Linux (and I imagine BSD and other) users plain and simple. - inactive, on 04/27/2008, -3/+68Fox News won't even read the letter. They'll be like: "Oh look. A letter. OGC."
- latova, on 04/27/2008, -6/+71linux is actually really cool, noob
go back to windows xp - weizbox, on 04/27/2008, -2/+62no Vista? ;)
- inactive, on 04/27/2008, -5/+63What that means is that it isn't incapable of working under Linux, they just block it so it won't work under Linux, those slimy bastards. Oh, well. Who's going to miss a little bit of Fox News? We are, after all, Digg, the greatest source of news in the world.
- Narpas, on 04/27/2008, -2/+56It's funny because you think there have been only seven versions of Linux.
- weizbox, on 04/27/2008, -11/+65First off, Ubuntu != Linux.. so don't pretend they are the same thing.
Second, Open Office can open/edit/save Excel and Word Docs just fine... and ''the Internet' works as well.
This was a problem brought on by the web dev.. not by Linux.... as the pages should load just fine after you get past their Linux-specific road block. - inactive, on 04/27/2008, -2/+54From http://foxnews1.a.mms.mavenapps.net/mms/rt/1/site/ ...

They are screening for specific operating systems before browsers agents. There is no reason for this other than depriving specific operating systems. Their code is intentionally blocking all systems other than Mac or Windows. How *****! - richman241, on 04/27/2008, -2/+50Dont worry, Fox news hates everyone.
- Bobski, on 04/27/2008, -1/+44Its even funnier because he doesn't realize Linux is a kernel, not an operating system.
- smacksaw, on 04/27/2008, -7/+49Dude, you're way more against Linux than Linux users are for it.
If anyone is a retard, it's you. - MrDarkSim, on 04/27/2008, -4/+45Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows XP Media Center 2005, Mac OSX 10.3 or Mac OSX 10.4 is required to view this page
- inactive, on 04/27/2008, -1/+35You're probably right, but I was just remarking on their ***** coding practices. First off, they're serving an XHTML document yet using a JavaScript hack to circumvent the XML parser so they can load Flash through a depreciated embed tag. And then they actually make the choice to support Firefox, but only on Windows. Whoever coded this site was retarded, plain and simple.
- inactive, on 04/27/2008, -5/+37why would anyone visit that site at all, from any os? I think the web site is doing linux users a favor
- scy1192, on 04/27/2008, -17/+49I'm a Linux user. Everyone hates me. I'll go cry now.
- trogdoor, on 04/27/2008, -1/+31http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll
- BGog, on 04/27/2008, -0/+27It's a crime that the platform is even transmitted in html headers. I cannot think of a single reason that it should matter. Of course you need to know what browser it is... Also if they have the ability to play certain types of files but the platform is irrelevant.
- badassninja, on 04/27/2008, -9/+35I wish Fox News didn't work on all OSes, Browsers and TV's. ***** Big Media, the internet is the only place where the truth can leak thru.
- MCA2142, on 04/27/2008, -3/+29no DOS 6.14?
- sirbeta, on 04/27/2008, -7/+33I hate when people write "Micro$oft". Otherwise I agree with the guy.
- sloppychris, on 04/27/2008, -1/+26Linux is freedom. That's pro-American.
- AlexBellisBrown, on 04/27/2008, -1/+26You try living in a different country (Spain) for 7 years, not speaking English much. Of course, you make silly mistakes, and I apologize.
- RubberBinder, on 04/27/2008, -2/+26or Leopard?
- Jaydude765, on 04/27/2008, -1/+25Please. Don't feed the trolls.
- oblique63, on 04/27/2008, -3/+27I guess Tux is an Obama supporter....
- danielsamuels, on 04/27/2008, -4/+28I hope you spell checked it before you sent it.
- BIOHazard87, on 04/27/2008, -2/+24Linux > Fox News
- PaulRay, on 04/27/2008, -3/+25Probably because Linux/Firefox will reject the stupid adware, spyware and other crapware they want to install. Screw 'Em. As many said, it's Fox, who cares?
- iPenis, on 04/27/2008, -6/+27Not as much as they hate the truth
- DemonDomen, on 04/27/2008, -1/+22We don't, but if there is an opportunity to complain to fox, I'm in.
- GawtMilk, on 04/27/2008, -5/+25Digg and Fox are not news sources. It's infotainment. If I read Digg for my source of going-ons in the world, I'd be terrified. A lot of sensationalism here and on Fox, little fact-checking. Digg reminds me of McCarthyism and the red scare -- some Joe Nobody makes wild accusations, the press ran out to submit the story to get a competitive edge, but didn't go through fact checking, as there "wasn't enough time" to get the newspapers out to readers. Juicy information from rawstory or Huffington Post is often debunked with as little as a visit to snopes, but we still read and Digg because it's fun to hear that Obama is a space alien, McCain ruined the Treaty of Versaille by filibuster and Hillary is a zionist. It's infotainment, pure and simple. The reason people come here is often for the comments or self-promotion; in fact read the headlines of a major newspaper, very little is reported on Digg.
- FLAESHAL, on 04/27/2008, -4/+23who cares it's fox news
- Gagle, on 04/27/2008, -3/+220.o
wow ... you leave me speechless - smacksaw, on 04/27/2008, -2/+20#1 Why do you have "fark" in your name? Already there's something wrong with you.
#2 I am using Ubutnu as we speak. I am creating a graph in Excel to measure your stupidity and then I'm going to insert it as a linked object into Word and write an article on how stupid you are. - StealthTomato, on 04/27/2008, -1/+18Osama be chillin' with his Terrorbuntu install right now.
- trogdoor, on 04/27/2008, -5/+22It's not a blacklist it's a whitelist, this seems much more like laziness than malice.
- Nerolus, on 04/27/2008, -2/+18I got a message similar when I tried to watch streaming "Lost" episodes at ABC's website.
- diffuze, on 04/27/2008, -1/+16Confirmed.
I tried konqueror's browser identification and it works like a charm.
Then why one would want to go to fox fo read news.. well that's another issue. - poesybeater, on 04/27/2008, -2/+16A few weeks ago (when the Suzi Orman "free" book was released), Oprah Winfrey's website refused to serve pages to a Safari browser ("sorry, get another browser, yada"). This was peculiar, because the Oprah television show itself used Safari for its onscreen graphics advertising the website.
- PurpleSfinx, on 04/27/2008, -1/+15"WTF with Ubuntu, can't even run Word and Excel on it, and now you can't even view the Internet? Linux sucks."
WTF with Ubuntu, don't even want to run Word and Excel anymore, and now you get a warning before you're subjected to the horrors of Fox 'News'? Linux rocks.
Fixed. -
