- sirhomer, on 10/10/2007, -2/+34Linux desktop sexiness puts all other operating systems to shame. :)
- qwuinc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24Props for actually including descriptions of programs and used stuff with the screenshots.
- PeachCobbler, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19and the freedom to configure puts the others to shame, too :D
- shellnet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14My desktop is an embarrassing mess of files.
- schestowitz, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15Just comes to show that Linux is amorphous, which is a strength. Nice screenshots.
- knellotron, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10It seems that everyone who had a Mac or Apple-like theme felt a need to apologize for choosing that look. heh.
- thebigmatay, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Yes
- nixfu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Beryl and Compiz themes are ONE CLICK and a simple gui to click on them with preivews.
- Malachai, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I know it's sarcasm. But did you know that I can right-click my desktop icons and stretch them or shrink to a different size? And not just with application launchers; folders, movies, documents...any icon on the desktop.
- Ichiban1081, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Ive been using Ubuntu for about 4 days now, never touched linux before in my life and consider myself an expert windows users and I have to say ubuntu is amazing. I have everything configured the way I want and its running smooth as butter. Compiz-fusion + avant window navigator + screenlets = minority report computing....well almost
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5woot at my screenshot being there:

that was a supprise, I forgot about even emailing it. - Waterrat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5 very nice indeed...
- technoredneck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You ain't the only one.
- soulknowledge, on 10/10/2007, -7/+10None of these can possibly match the flexibility of Windows Desktop... it has small AND large icons.... now that's innovative
/sarcasm - nixfu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Beryl/Compiz themes are SUPER easy to use...one click install, and great gui with previews to choose from.
http://arstechnica.com/reviews/os/beryl-bling.medi ... - overmonkey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Most of them have great descriptions, more than enough to start emulating these custom desktops. I know I found a new icon set(http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/buuf+icon+t ... and some alternative window managers to play with.
This kind of flexibility is one of the reasons I've never looked back. - Hello1024, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I want to know when distro themeing engines get ood enough to apply these type things as a theme with one click. Yep I know it might mean downloading extra packages for snazzy menu bars etc. but it would be a nice option to have so not everyone has to spend hours customizing to get something nice.
- ptFoe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Much better collection of desktops:

Not because it's Ubuntu, OK - eatbeefjerky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Mine is in there - it's the one with the blue penguins/world map "World Is Open Source" wallpaper. It's been changed since, however...
- antitab, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2www.enlightenment.org
- calcium20, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Thats good you like Ubuntu it is a great distro with a great fanbase, if you get curious I suggest trying out openSUSE 10.3 is about to come out in october, the RC1 is out now and is recommended to all users, you might find you quite like the professionalism of openSUSE over the roughness of ubuntu.
- Malachai, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2...in Linux. Forgot to clarify.
- TehEnergy, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7OMG Linux ownz for everything.
- nixfu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Lots of good themes to choose from here:
http://themes.beryl-project.org/ - MikeonTV, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4Am I the only one who gets hard off of screenshots?
- tonycomputerguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1nixfu is right, actually the latest versions of ubuntu come with compiz installed automatically, it's under "Desktop effects" in preferences, and Compiz Fusion is so painfully easy to install it's almost funny. Gnome Art Manager also lets you download and install whole themes from the net, and you don't even have to go to the website and download, untar, install. It shows you a preview and you just click install. Easy stuff, people need to spend more time in the Package manager looking at all the awesome stuff that's available.
- Blazeix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I wish they had included the wallpaper name as well. Does anyone know what wallpaper the one titled "Clara" uses (third one on the list)? It says its a flickr wallpaper, but I can't seem to find it.
- Ichiban1081, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I will definately give it a look, thanks for the heads up. Also here is my desktop, not as sexy as those guys but im new be easy on me.
http://img231.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screensho ... - rburgess3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1but a great wallpaper does... the hallmark of a GTD-ist is a desktop free of icons.
- thomashauk, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Depends what the wallpaper is..
- spanglegluppet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Those are some pretty sexy desktops. :)
- daftman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1When opensuse has something like apt-get or portage then I'll switch over.
- JoeRockEHF, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I've always liked show and tell! Some of these shots are pretty cool.
- rstevensjr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Not bad.
- happytedium, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Very nice, though I must admit I wouldn't trade my OS X desktop for any of them. Bring on Leopard :)
- msgyrd, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2Agreed. Notice a common theme of knock-off OS X docks?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2So many of these are mentioned merely for their wallpapers. Surely the author is not THAT gullible...
- notnoisy, on 10/10/2007, -11/+3A great wallpaper and some icons does not make a great desktop. Nothing new here.
