Deluge Torrent Client 1.0 Released

forum.deluge-torrent.org — Deluge is an open-source attempt on uTorrent, what i really love about this client is that it has a separated daemon from the frontends, meaning you don't have to have X running on a *nix server.

  • arp87, on 09/28/2008, -0/+2With utorrent I used to max out my connection around 300kb... with deluge on Ubuntu I once hit 1.5mb!! and its not unusual to see 300-500kb...

    deluge rocks! it is a bit buggy though, but still my favorite client... development is ongoing and its getting better all the time..

  • SlugO83, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2Deluge certainly has come a long way in quite a short time. This 1.0 release is much more stable and faster than the previous 0.5.
  • mickstephenson, on 09/23/2008, -2/+3It is the best hands down. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_client only Azureus tops it, but its written in Java and doesn't use specific linux libraries, so not really a linux program IMO.
    Monsoon is one that I consider to have potential to compete with deluge when it matures though.

  • fatas, on 09/23/2008, -1/+1No it just uses lists like peer-guardian you can't right click a peer on a Torrent and block him like you can with Ktorrent.

  • PolarZoe, on 09/24/2008, -2/+1Although I'm happy to see it finally released. I'm kinda worried, the size on windows vista is BIG (A whopping 130 MB) and it's not correctly working yet. For me it's unusable as I can't add torrents.
