- schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -25/+181There is an equivalent version of Damn Vulnerable Linux in the stores as well. But it costs about $200 and has a highly restrictive EULA. ;-)
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -2/+55They ran their server using their own distro?

Actually, DuggMirror automatically redirects you to the article it's linked from. The full URL isn't necessary. - CraigB12, on 10/12/2007, -24/+63In similar news, microsoft introduces its new OS called Winbuntu.
- DerGeist, on 10/12/2007, -6/+44Finally, Linux is ready for the desktop!
Been using it for 5 minutes now, it's just like Windows. - berwiki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29i would hope for the sake of hackr.org's reputation you are indeed having problems solving puzzles 'never having used a debugger before'
can i use the term 'uber-noob' without being dugg-down in this case?? - B5tKUnT1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24Damn vulnerable website!
- Ahnteis, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17The price you pay for being paranoid enough to block referers.
- benitojuarez, on 10/12/2007, -12/+20Do YOU realize peoples browsers can block refferers making a basic link to duggmirror take you to duggmirror? Don't be lazy and post the direct duggmirror link if youre going to go through the trouble of putting duggmirror in your post.
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Actually, once everyone sees your Digg history.........they're probably going to laugh. Then probably block you.
http://www.digg.com/users/Darcy/news/dugg - Genius16, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5xxx bury me
- DigitalJester, on 10/12/2007, -12/+16http://duggmirror.com
Duggmirror got it. Barely. - Genius16, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Hahahahaha @ Darcy + Blocked :-)
"Vista - Slow down the animations" you dugg this? Its too bad vista doesnt put in a utility to alter the vis's like, um, everyone else does... - stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Actually, Epiphany by default blocks the referrers.
- kualla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Your comment didn't make me one bit angry, it just made me realize how stupid a MS fanboy can be.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Mirror of the download, in case you want to try it out:
http://mirror.roothell.org/pub/DVL/damnvulnerablelinux_1.0.isohttp://mirror.roothell.org/pub/DVL/damnvulnerablelinux_1.0.iso - CalipsoII, on 10/12/2007, -15/+18Do YOU realize that a direct link is not required? Duggmirror checks the referrer, a simple http://www.duggmirror.com link clicked from any comments page is enough to direct the user to the correct cached story.
I see you're still noob to the whole trolling bit. - romanboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4it's dead :(
here's another:
http://mirror.roothell.org/pub/DVL/damnvulnerablelinux_1.0.iso - postaldave, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5shut the f&ck up windows.
- xst4t1kx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2freegoo: "Really, doesn't bashing Windows get old after a while?"
Not really, no. - sirhomer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah I am happy Linux finally gets some features that make it compete better with Windows.
2007 is the year of the Linux desktop! - benitojuarez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My adblocker is the culprit that blocks browser referrers so meh. Im sure theres tons of others with a similar setup
- spyro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Version 1.1 is supposed to come out shortly.
Here is another download link:
http://www.securitydistro.com/downloads/dvl/damnvulnerablelinux_1.0.iso - loconet, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5@benitojuarez
Sure but do most browsers block referrers by default? Nope so just putting the duggmirror link without the complete path is good enough most of the time. What exactly is the point in blocking referrer all the time anyways? - postaldave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1haha, all the windows fanboys are digging you down for using linux.
btw:agreed on pclinuxos that distro really does rock. - Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1xXxBuryMexXx
I should make a new digg account with that name. So very... myspaceish. - SamKellett, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8Windows has this support built in, you don't need to install a whole new operating system!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm soo stupid ... I phail at teh internets!
- scuzzman, on 10/12/2007, -9/+9@thomasleeiv
Did you bother trying his link? Duggmirror works when used as such because it reads the "referrer" part of the HTTP header and figures out where you're trying to go. His link works fine.
Edit: Wow, apparently everyone decided to point this out as well... - vendredi5h, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"http://www.digg.com/users/Darcy/news/dugg"
Wah! Unbelievable! I once saw an albinos moose. I thought I wouldn't see anything else that special... Wah! - Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I thought it was winbuntu Op
this time instead of experience
its open platform - jellystones, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1haha, these jokes are getting really lame
- Rapter09, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I can see it now...somewhere down the line somebody is going to download DVL thinking its generic Linux and go on a crusade screaming about how vulnerable the OS is to attack.
- Terc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1True, but you don't have to pay a small fortune for DVL...
- terog, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Yes, extremely stupid comments like yours can make people angry.
- sgtkwol, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Lol, all those Linux people say that it is so secure, now what do you have to say??? I do understand that this was only made for the purpose of being vulnerable, and I actually like Linux.
- kpax, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1This is one of the more interesting comments I've seen in a long time on digg. Cool!
- daller, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Cant access the article as duggmirror suxx and the site is down but i would not ask how they got IE i would ask why?

BTW if you want a clean and functional Linux for the desktop, without the bloat check out PCLinuxOS. However I'd either hunt down the stable .93a (look for torrents), OR wait till the 2007 version is stable (probably in a few weeks).

Requirements: 256 MB of memory, 5 GB of free hard drive space, modern cdrom drive, Pentium 3 700 mhz cpu or better. - biggbrother, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4Gee, how did they get Microsoft to let them include IE in a Linux distro? Maybe they had to pay a big license fee.
- wvdavis, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4What??? No ASCII quotes? Did schestowitz fall out of his chair?
- SniperGX1, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5sweet Linux Vista Ultimate
- Darcy, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2All Linux distros are damn vulnerable, it's just that its users are to blind to see the truth.
Why do I get the feeling this comment is going to make a lot of people very angry? - BZKyle, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Aww, you beat me to it :(
- MrViklund, on 10/12/2007, -16/+10Duggmirror stinks...
- NewNole2001, on 10/12/2007, -13/+6edit: gomek got to it before me.
bury me.. sorry for burying you on accident gomek - kaervas59, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4Site down with 45 digg.... great!
- worldsbestgamer, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Any idea how you were "hacked?"
And surely DVL is old news for Digg. - Freegoo, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1I knew the second I saw this headline that there was going to be a ton of Microsoft/Windows bashing jokes. I was also unsurprised to find it in the very first comment.
Really, doesn't bashing Windows get old after a while? Here's a hint: the jokes are neither clever nor original anymore. - jerryparid, on 10/12/2007, -17/+8Except that DVL could be used to exploit systems running this "equivalent version of Damn Vulnerable Linux", while DVL remains exploit free.
