Out of 15 comments, only 2 are good. The rest are people trying very hard to be funny or trolling.
Anyway, DSL is great. I don't like the windows manager that is included, though, as XFCE both looks great and runs fast. Didn't have any problems running DSL when I tried it a few months back. - BigBollocks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It is definitely worth checking out.
Give me any computer with any access to the ‘net and I can rule the world with this distro. DSL is an awesome powerful compact distro which I have been using for a couple of years; I started using it as a disaster recovery tool and as I played around with it I discovered that it can be a Pandora box, a very powerful Pandora box.
I carry the credit card CD in my wallet, and both, my MP3 player and USB drive are now bootable with it. Yes, the 512MB USB MP3 player still plays MP3s and it is readable in Windoze at well as it formats in FAT16; and it only takes around 50 Megs of space!
Now can you see the flexibility and power of this little beast?

Yes, I am a geek, deal with it. - pynej, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3From what I understand it is also relatively easy to take a version like this and add extra personal software and even spit the USB drive into 2 file systems, 1 for the read-only Linux OS, and another writable FAT partition for your files. This way you can boot to it, or plug it into a running PC and access you files. Though you would need enough space for both then. +Digg
- tomaburque, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Knoppix STD on a thumbdrive is exponentially more usefull.
- Hitchhiker90, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For those of you who do not want to install DSL but would like to try it you should download the embedded version. Its the DSL distro run under QEMU. No configuration needed at all. Unzip the file, double click the dsl-windows.bat file and watch it boot up in QEMU while your still running Windows.
- hadj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Although digg.com has a lot of active members, no one seems to moderate the comments. I think this will have to be pointed out somewhere on the site.
- kdehead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1feather linux is another v.small distro that fits on a usb stick.

http://tophomemortgageloan.com - adssse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DSL 2.0 really is a step in the right direction. I have been using DSL for about 9 months and it just continues to get better.
- nos4a2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's also worth checking out Puppy Linux http://www.goosee.com/puppy/
- Cowboy5995, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Very interesting. If I put this on a thumb drive could I boot right to it? If so good bye knoppix. I am very very new to linux as far as using the command line.
- rolandog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ph3rny, I think you can just place it as is... (like when you download and burn a live-CD image). Then you should only restart your computer. If your computer doesn't start up from the USB, restart again and hit F10 (I think). Then you should find some section in which there is an option like 'Boot Order' or 'Boot Settings'. You should choose to boot first from CDs, and USB drives if you want to prevent your 'normal' OS from booting.
But, I haven't downloaded it yet, so I still don't know if it'll work straight from the USB. - ph3rny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I downloaded it and stuff but I couldn't find how to put it on my usb drive?
Am I not looking hard enough? - DukunSakti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Check out http://www.4pi1.com/ for virtual machines, including Damn Small and Puppy Linux, that are ready to run.
