Compro Technology violates GPL, distributes modified Linux

hexus.net — Taiwanese TV card Manufacturer Compro has been caught in the act, distributing a "driver" for a selection their TV cards which includes a full Linux kernel, with heavy modifications. Given legal precedent with companies like Skype and D-Link, why is anyone dumb enough to keep doing this?

  • mossblaser, on 05/21/2008, -1/+1Some guy probably tried to get the dev team to use some part of linux "because its open source and it's allowed" and the licensing dept. heard that bit and just slapped a license on it.

    Most likley a matter of poor communication or understanding.
