- LordZodd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21I didn't see "Throwing Copper" on there....
- schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10There's also this one, which is editable: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Live_CDs
- dpknc84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Just like your non-duplicate posts... oh wait...
- ahill7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Is this different from the vernable FrozenTech's Linux List? Oh wait. it is exactly the same. http://www.frozentech.com/content/livecd.php

In windows, you spend your time fighting viruses;
With linux, you spend your time finding which distro to use.. - mercurysquad, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Whoa.. that's a monster list!
- webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Just like this article. In the Linux/Unix section. Which you read and commented on.
And to the contrary, what better way of introducing someone to Linux than to boot it from a CD so it doesn't affect their computer? - nahun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5the install cd is a live cd
edit: dang, 2 others beat me to it. I suck - wattznext, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Huzzah and kudos Lord Zodd, I was about to complain that I couldnt find "Frampton Comes Alive." Glad to see you "feel like i do." ;)
- mercurysquad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3trghpy: Actually no, I picked Ubuntu and stuck with it. Tried openSuSE and it's fine but I still tend to come back to Ubuntu. The others I don't really care about, unless they are specialized distros.
In fact I would go as far as claiming that the distro wars are basically over: Ubuntu is here to stay for the next couple of years, and is a safe choice for anyone wishing to start using Linux. There really is no reason to use anything else unless you already like another distro or have specific needs. The bottom line is, the distro don't really matter unless you have particular preference already. In the end, they're all the same: you can do anything on any distro. - thestorey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://DistroWatch.com
- black27696, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nice, but it's not ALL of them.
I should note that by that I mean it's impossible to list ALL distros of an OS that can be modified as much as linux. - ThrobbingBrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I may be misunderstanding you, but are you serious? Ubuntu has had a LiveCD since 6.06 (I think).
http://ubuntu.cs.utah.edu/releases/7.04/ - bluecougar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No love for grml. Never any love for grml. :-(
http://www.grml.org - sremick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Would be nice if they included an OS column. Not all those live CDs use Linux as the OS. I saw 2 FreeBSD ones there. :)

That might have been an intentional joke. - nick58b, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They are exactly the same. Also, the link above only displays about half the list (it's limited to showonly=desktop). The FrozenTech link you posted or just http://www.livecdlist.com/ will have everything in the list: Insert, Gentoo, and of course grml. grml rocks.
- ScottMaximus1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Music Jokes FTW
- TheSeeker11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm surprised my distro of choice, sidux, is not there - http://sidux.com
- weizbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yea.. im kinda surprised by Gentoo not being on there either...
GentooX is (Gentoo for Xbox), but no Gentoo.

Next time when you say 'all', make sure it actually is 'all'... I mean come on... its #13 on distrowatch, its not like its some weird obscure distro. =P - Churnd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The default "desktop" CD _is_ a live CD.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's not a complete list, but it's not bad either. The wiki link is probably more accurate to follow as it can be updated easier.

Did not see sage: software for algebra and geometry experimentation
http://modular.math.washington.edu/sage/download.html - PaulRay, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3This is why people make fun of us ubuntu users... Now stop "Trying" to be hip, it's not working for you.
- spltimg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow! what a giant list! very cool... although no offense I don't understand why it can't look a little nicer. Come to think of it the same goes for DistroWatch. None the less great list!
- captaincoconut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Not exhaustive and buried for inaccuracy. Missing INSERT Linux.
- rebopper, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Knoppix dude, Knoppix
- pauldonnelly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is just a year or two too late to be useful, now that every distro under the sun has a live CD and it's even spread beyond Linux ("Mac OS, Mac OS X, Solaris, BeOS, ReactOS, FreeBSD, Minix, NetBSD, Plan 9 from Bell Labs, MSDOS [and] Microsoft Windows", according to Wikipedia). How about a list of distros that somehow don't have one?
- webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Strange... I was after one of these today...
Question is, which is best for each area? (CD, USB, tiny, etc). I loved Kanotix, but it hasn't been updated for ages. Tried Slax today from a USB pen and it got stuck on boot looking for a mutex. - khafra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It'd be nice if they were categorized; having all of 'em as "Desktop" isn't very useful. Also nice to have a quick summary by each one.
- dxxvi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Where's Fedora?
- acedude16, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Woa....nice list
- se2schul, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2They forgot "Damn Small Linux - Not!"
- pauldonnelly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I don't get it. What has Frampton to do with Live?
- mark_in_bc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Ubuntu does not seem to offer a live cd down loadable through their webvso why is it on this list? I've been searching for a live Ubuntu CD but can't find it.
- rebopper, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I don't get your jokes.
- bouche, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2worth a look ONLY if you're a nerd.
- ahill7, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Is this different from the vernable FrozenTech's Linux List? Oh wait. it is exactly the same. http://www.frozentech.com/content/livecd.php
- RaulMontana, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2ubuntu foreva!
