- homemadejam, on 01/04/2009, -0/+4Hmm, I'd have to disagree with you on that one.
I think this is one of the main things that brings new users to Linux, after seeing the effects that can be achieved on Youtube... - PsychoBrat, on 01/04/2009, -0/+2It's not just eyecandy, but the eyecandy does keep up the interest.

- Orbity, on 01/04/2009, -1/+3I like the eye candy now and then to show friends, but I always disable it by setting it to none. I'm yet to find anything useful about it.
- thecheatah, on 01/04/2009, -0/+1i use opacity, it lets u see through other windows and still have focus on another. Its good for typing things while looking at another window.
Also scale plugin is useful and zoom is good for videos/whatever that needs to be full screen.
You have to be creative with it a little bit. It doesnt just GIVE you functionality. - lowtolerance, on 01/04/2009, -0/+1I agree that it does have its uses, but the focus has shifted from functionality to making it a toy, and that's precisely why developers are abandoning it. On the other hand, KDE 4.2 in integrating many of Compiz's features into their window manager, but they seem to be focusing on making this type of eye candy serve a purpose, for the most part. I really think KDE will end up stealing a lot of focus from Compiz in the next few releases.
- jflaker, on 01/04/2009, -0/+1I have basic stuff enabled......maybe this can be merged with the desktop GUI groups?
- lowtolerance, on 01/03/2009, -9/+3Users don't need it, and developers don't want to develop it, so just let it die.
