- trogdoor, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13You can, if you see a story with the word "Compiz" in it don't read or comment on it!
- Reziarfg, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12I can't wait for Gutsy Gibbon to come out and include all these implementations from the get go. It should really be something.
- SanjoEel, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11He's just jealous cause he uses windows hahaha.

You can filter stories via keywords. If you are using firefox, install the GreaseMonkey plugin and then install DiggWasher script.
G++ - xTRUMANx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The last time I was using Beryl, I remember that one could import and export settings. Is there a website available with some customized beryl settings? The number of options available was so overwhelming I thought there's some great settings to be made but I'm too lazy to do it myself.
- cyberwiz01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6You mean GPU power? Compiz is hardware accelerated so there really is minimal load on the CPU for these effects.
- weijie90, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Go to Youtube and search for it. Then read the Wikipedia article about it.
It's the 21st century. The truly literate are those who can do independent research before asking questions. - cdmarcus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6You make a good point, but you don't have to be obnoxious about it.
- weijie90, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5The cube is pretty useful when working with multiple documents.
- mercurysquad, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5"Filters to simulate for two types of colorblindness"
Now that is something incredibly useful for website designers, to test for accessibility issues. Take that, you whiners, bitching about Fusion being just eye-candy. - cdmarcus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I hate to tell you this, but unless these new versions were released before the 16th of August, Gutsy probably won't have them... the Feature Freeze and Upstream Version Freeze were both on the 16th. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/GutsyReleaseSchedule
- trogdoor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Wrong tab?
- Phocion55, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Replacing "Chuck Norris" with "Ron Paul". How clever.
- cronot, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I'm disappointed. This doesn't look all that different from Beryl's Configuration Manager at all. What Compiz Settings really needed is a way to hide settings, so the user would have to check an "Export mode" box to see everything. The way it is now (and the way it was with Beryl Configuration as well), the user is presented with a ton of settings of which only about 30% he will ever touch. That's confusing and gets in the way of letting the user configure common stuff.
- Amablue, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3It takes hardly any CPU power, and I've almost never noticed any slowdown.
- mcmlxxii, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It already is and it's still alpha :)
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Latest nvidia drivers, that is if you are using nvidia card. 9xx does good job.
- c0ldfusi0n, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It's the base of any marketing. More feature attracts more users. Effectiveness just keeps your current users.
- dcherryholmes, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Found at least part of it. CCSM -> General Options -> Show Desktop. Gives you the GUI, click the edge you want. I still fail to see how having thematically related things scattered all over the place is an improvement. The actual rendering of Fusion is much better on my hardware than Beryl, but I don't feel like I can use it as easily. Oh well.
- harmil, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This whole compositing desktop thing is amazing. I really love using it at home. Some advice to others who think the flashy special effects aren't worth it: turn everything off, and play with each feature, one at a time. There are some really nice features, even if all you want to do is open an editor and write code or browse the web and read email. Window translucency is very handy for keeping track of what's going on in other windows. Title bar fading is a great way to reclaim real estate, etc.
- Surkow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Although I updated to the latest version I no longer use it as my main window manager. When using GTK themes all sorts of glitches occur. Compiz Fusion needs better standard values (and key bindings) otherwise it will alienate users who cannot understand what all the options do.
- SanjoEel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Well CF is great, when it is working. my latest round of updates broke CF. Beryl is stable for me, but CF is prettier and smoother. Can't wait to figure out what's broke.....
- c0ldfusi0n, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Where did the "Move Viewport with Mouse" plugin go?
- SteveMax, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Speak for yourself.
- reddfox321, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah, this happened to me. I guess it was some sort of mistake in the Trevino repositories. I had to uninstall it then reinstall it again after the bugs were fixed. Its working lovely now, though. Anybody know when the first stable build comes out? Or is that what I'm using now?
- weijie90, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Here's one set of settings for you:
http://beryl-look.org/index.php//title,beryl+settings/mode,browse/type,10 - xutopia, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2It's not more features we need. It's simplicity and effectiveness. This talk from David Pogue explains it better than I could: http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/7
- tomz17, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1mythtv doesn't like to play nice with my version of compiz. I have to go back to metacity when loading up myth.
- Tanath, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1In the top left corner of CCSM there's a search box.
It's called Viewport Switcher. - juangt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Honestly, it took me ~ an hour to go from install to fully functional + understanding what each setting does, along with a tailored key bindings. But getting it to work is kinda like playing the russian rullete; Good Luck.
- Blazeix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The stable release will be version .6.0. You are probably using either .5.5 (trevino's repo) or .5.2. (in the Gutsy repo)
- thecheatah, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2few points I would like to mention.
1. Stop caring about which Linux distro people are using. If someone is using Ubuntu and someone else is using Gentoo or fedora, its all the same people. We can basically get any oss to run an any one of these other distros. So stop dividing your self based on distro. You should be happy if someone switches to Ubuntu or some other distro. In the end just switching to linux is all that matters.
2. Compiz fusion keeps crashing on me :-(. I try to run that + mythtv + firefox + kate + konq + tombstone(running a file scan) and my computer locked up. WHy GOD WHYY??? What sacrifices do you require? Is 1 gb of mem not enough? and 7800gs not fast enough? - wholly2b, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I think the stupidest branding decision I've seen lately is iFilm -- they're rebranding as 'spike'. I mean, really. Spike?
- camg188, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Based on the latest marketing trends it should be renamed iCompiz iFusion.
- bruenig, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3I can't wait for the next release of arch to come out and include... oh wait, it is rolling release so I don't have to.
- dcherryholmes, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2I sure would like to know where, buried in all the crap, the new and easy screencorners config can be found. Beryl-manager was a great interface. Compiz-fusion's is *ass*.
- mbradbury, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Compositer
- ayeroxor, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1"Compiz Fusion has yet some more new features"
...Still features world's stupidest name.
wtf is compiz? computer wiz? - codercode, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1bit bit..itsy bitsy spider..climbing up the wall..dig it dig it spider !!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -10/+0All that CPU power just to rotate a cube. Sounds like Vista with a fancy label.
- ki85squared, on 10/10/2007, -15/+2When will the compiz fusion stories ever end? I wish I could filter stories based on keywords...
