Closed Source vs. Open Source in Desktop Linux

itmanagement.earthweb.com — At what point do we accept that – whether we like it or not – closed source applications will eventually have to be let in to this otherwise "open" world? After all, this has already been happening for years, despite the Linux purists kicking and screaming the entire time.

  • gsiliceo, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1I think in the end when linux has like 25% of desktop share, the infrastructure will be built in open source(gnome, kde, linux kernel, the distro) but the most used apps will be closed source(drivers, profession specific software)
    And the makers of those apps will contribute with code to the great projects mentioned above. And backed up with that support, linux will kick serious ass.
