- kd420, on 11/05/2008, -0/+1An alternate way is to compile the splash file from source, if provided. You need "libusplash-dev" and of course "startupmanager". Get the source, make, and make install and it should work.
Unfortunately, not all splashes come with the source (the one I liked on gnome look didn't) so I downloaded the default theme source, and modified it to my liking. It's really easy actually, as long as you make sure to keep all the images with the same colour pallete. There's instructions here:https://help.ubuntu.com/community/USplashCustomiza ...
