bobbo.me.uk — Canonical (the company behind arguably the most popular Linux distribution, Ubuntu) have stopped an open-source project on grounds of Trademark violations, despite the name not conflicting with their Trademark Policy.

  • Vadi0, on 08/23/2008, -0/+1They didn't stop them... they said 'no'. And the project for whatever reason decided to stop using the name right away (when they were under no obligation at all to), and even delete important data.

    Um, odd of them, but it doesn't sound like they understood the trademark law to begin with.
