Building a glossier front end for MythTV

linux.com — Josh Stewart loves MythTV -- so much so that he is building his own front-end app for it as a drop-in replacement for MythTV's default. The replacement is called Gloss, and although it isn't ready for prime time yet (no pun intended), its OpenGL effects and GStreamer bindings show plenty of promise.

  • sn00kie, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2My biggest gripe about mythtv is that it is powerful, but ugly. I mean that in more ways that one. The menu system is completely unorganized, it's slow, it's look and feel is beginning to age very fast against competitors. I hate how you have to 'refresh' your video folder. I can't just drop a movie in my movies folder and have it automatically show up in mythtv? What gives mythtv? What gives....
