I asked about the issue you were talking about in IRC and this is what I got.
[WoZ] right click beryl icon then Advanced Beryl Settings> Rendering Path> Select Copy then restart your xgl session and try again, it should work again.

It's a very cool project with some stellar developers. - chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The new svn version that was just released makes beryl crash and it then just displays a blank white screen. This is a warning to the beryl users out there. I use beryl, xgl, and an ati 9600xt with the fglrx drivers. Don't upgrade.
