- jrsims, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wonderful! With their new design and branding, FreeBSD is taking a step in the right direction. It would be nice to see more solid design and branding work for Linux distros (I'm talking to YOU, Debian!).
Right now, most Linux distros have a very amateurish feel when it comes to UI design, logos, and branding. Appearance and presentation are everything these days - it shows that you have it 'together', kinda like wearing a suit to an interview. Sadly, for every programmer who's contributed to a FOSS project, there are very few designers who have.
That said, I think there's a real opportunity for designers to take part in the FOSS revolution by providing free design services to a FOSS project of their choice.
